python , in what are your top sites for finding Android apks?

If Mobilism doesn't have it, I search Google and try whatever sites come up. If that doesn't find the right thing I just assume it doesn't exist. Depending on what I want, I also try making the apk myself with Lucky Patcher.

Depends, usually searching for the apk with version code (or at best package name) works fine especially when you need specific youtube versions for revanced, or premium unlocked apks.

About what?

about a removed post.

Joejoe582 , in I am not able to upload my torrent to the web :(

paysrenttobirds , in missing APK

https://apkgamezona.com/everyday-wallpaper-pro-ad-free.html

But the fact that so many stores have dropped it recently, though it's clear they once had it, may mean something, idk.

pelletbucket OP ,
@pelletbucket@lemm.ee avatar

that link doesn't actually have the APK as far as I can figure out. when I hit the download button, it just opens a search page for the rest of their apks

paysrenttobirds ,

Oh. I don't know anything about this. Is it weird for an app to be pulled from all of these sites? Do they have a way for the original developer to take it down if they want or some kind of flagging? Does your new phone have a higher Android build, maybe the site checks somehow to match with the right version and then fails? Wild guesses

mindbleach , in Meta admits using pirated books to train AI, but won't pay for it

I don't care if the robot that speaks English read the entire library.

How else was it going to happen?

CorrodedCranium , in missing APK

When you say upgraded do you mean changed to a new device or just updated the OS?

If it's the former you might be able to extract the app and transfer it and crack it yourself.

pelletbucket OP ,
@pelletbucket@lemm.ee avatar

new phone. the app is still installed on my old phone, I tried using Smart Switch to transfer it. is there an easy way to get the APK off my old phone without root?

hendrik , in Piracy shield in Italy - unavoidable even with a VPN?

https://browserleaks.com/dns

And you need to configure protonvpn correctly so it uses their DNS. In the VPN world this is known as a 'DNS leak'.

AnEilifintChorcra , in Piracy shield in Italy - unavoidable even with a VPN?

Pretty sure its because of the piracy shield thingy. Secure Core might be an option as long as no Italian servers are used and you're using the VPNs DNS

https://torrentfreak.com/airvpn-stops-serving-italians-due-to-piracy-shield-blocking-requirements-240206/

“[A]ll parties in any capacity involved in the accessibility of illegally disseminated content – and therefore also, by way of example and not limitation – VPN and open DNS service providers, will have to execute the blocks requested by the Authority [AGCOM],” the notice read.

Gutless2615 OP ,

Yes, it absolutely is a result of the piracy shield thingy. Secure Core does seem to work!

Toes , in missing APK
@Toes@ani.social avatar

It's possible that the app has been disabled on the Play store if the developer has failed to raise the SDK level. A bunch of apps have been delisted for that reason.

If you still have the purchase email you may be able to contact the developer about it.

pelletbucket OP ,
@pelletbucket@lemm.ee avatar

I'm just trying to find a third party website that would carry the apk, since the usual suspects don't have it

Switch to cloudlfare DNS or something similar.

Try going through TOR to confirm its not a router software thing, if it works, you need another DNS (NextDNS is good) and then try again with Proton, if that doesn't work connect over a proxy or TOR with VPN.

https://www.proxysite.com/ might help as well

https://www.torproject.org/download/

LodeMike , in Piracy shield in Italy - unavoidable even with a VPN?

Check your DNS

dzaffaires , in Piracy shield in Italy - unavoidable even with a VPN?

Search "what is my ip" on your web search engine to see without and with a VPN connection, to see if you're really going through the VPN tunnel. Seems like you aren't.

Gutless2615 OP ,

Can confirm that the IP address/location appears to change, but the block and AGCOM interception remains.

cyborganism , in Piracy shield in Italy - unavoidable even with a VPN?

Probably because of your DNS configuration?

Gutless2615 OP ,

I'm thinking it must be a DNS configuration issue... Every server with ProtonVPN is showing the same, from the US to Netherlands to Switzerland. All of them.

cyborganism ,

Someone described to me in detail how your computer resolves hostnames.
