I only know of hermit and native alpha. 1st time hearing about this. Compared to hermit appears to be only 2 years old vs 10 years for hermit.

There are lots of mention of Native Alpha and hermit in the description. Very strange I never found this option in the 2 years it existed on the play store. Being based on firefox sounds neat. Good for everyone who wants their user agent to be firefox everyone even in lite apps.

Would give it a shot and see what it holds. But, I don't see myself switching from hermit.

It comes on sale somewhat often, I saw a sale post the other day on Lemmy somewhere.

There's also Native Alpha on Fdroid which does something similar

edit: decided to give it a try. Interestingly, both Lemmy and Mastodon are listed in the "popular" section of the built in apps

I'm in favor of people doing what they like with their devices. I've done a lot of... interesting things but the thought of putting an nsfw image as my home screen is kind of weird

The problem with that is the censoring model which is sometimes way too eager, detecting even perfectly SFW stuff as NSFW.

I use the NSFW version myself and then put nsfw, nude in the negative prompt, thus I have no NSFW images and no false positives.

Holy shit y'all. Developers need to eat too. It's totally fine to charge for an app or serve ads. LjDawson is a fantastic developer and really listens to his user base. Yes there are plenty of open source apps to use, but sometimes closed source is way more polished because the developer makes it their job to create the app. Living isn't free. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My excitement is tempered by two things, the ultra cost being a subscription (I get the "why" I just hate more subscriptions) and also the pretty crappy targeted adverts "consent" whereby you have to scroll through page after page of third party vendors to turn off the "legitimate" interest which is, let's be honest their way around consent by just ignoring what you want. That's put me right off in all honesty sorry.
