Reenacting Memory: Waterloo 200.

There was something about this event that "haunted" me.

For weeks afterwards I would look at a new post featured more incredible photos. I could not help but look and slide down that rabbit hole.

And just like that our Waterloo 200 adventure was over and the next day we would return home.

From the time I joined the hobby, I had stories of Waterloo '90 and Waterloo '95.

Well now I had Waterloo 2015 and am looking ahead to Waterloo 2025!

At Waterloo 200, this is when the various Royal Scots in our battalion gathered for a memorial close to the spot they stood 200 years previously.

Our DeMeuron Regiment suffered a true loss upon arrival at the site on the Thursday.

They sought to honour him on the battlefield.

We were defending the Hougoumont structure.

There was not much left of the walls after the battle moved away from us!

After years of planning and working on the Canadian expedition, we were getting close!

6 Years ago - 2018.

I had wrapped up a 33 year career with one employer and had the time to go back to Waterloo to see it properly (absorbed very little in 2015).

Morning walk in Brussels and then off to Waterloo!

Re-enacting Memory: 9 years ago today. (2015 our prelude to Waterloo)

We were in Cardiff at the Millennium Stadium as part of the Colours Ceremony for the Royal Welsh.

Photos are mine with the exception of the shot of the Queen on the ramp in the stadium which is from the stadium website.

I am on the right hand side, second up from the floor!

The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada marched from Dundurn Castle to Battlefield House retracing the original route of the British to join us for the opening ceremonies on the Saturday.

It is going to take a little time for me to find my rhythm as Brigadier General at big events.

Reenacting Memory: 2019 Stoney Creek.

1806 the 27th Regiment were in Maida in Southern Italy.

Supposedly they were bathing in the sea when the French attacked. They responded going into a battle wearing only their belts and carrying their muskets earning the nickname the “Skins”.

Re-enacting Memory: 2008 Fort Meigs. (Perrysburg, Ohio)

Sunday morning with nothing to do, took a little march down to the ruins of Fort Miamis (site of the British camp during the Siege).

Took a pause on the return trip to fire a volley or two to wake up the camp!

New video! We visit with the manager of the Bankfield Museum in a wide ranging discussion talking about their fashion collection, access to the collection and how it inspires reproductions and new fashion.
