The pine64 products all look quite nice. I was thinking of getting one of those phones (Linux based) next time mine dies. I can confirm the pinecil is the best soldering iron I’ve used and it’s only $26. The laptop they sell also has decent stats

    billbasher ,

Did you own one? I’ve yet to meet someone that has so any other insight would be appreciated.

High pain tolerance like using Linux as a daily back in ‘06?

Wow all those are features I want to work properly on a device.

Not to downplay Signal, their encryption is good and they added anti-quantum technology, but I miss what Wikr used to be. Friggin corporate takeovers.

Linux was never strong at graphical type things though. I think one of the reasons for a JRE for Android was a graphical setup. You take out the Java, get the bare OS. The Pi is pretty basic. SteamDeck works well because of the people working on Proton which also functions extremely well for Linux desktop Steam users. Hats off to them and I definitely appreciate all that work

The biggest thing is view distance vs size. Your eyes can only see up to a certain density.

They wonder why piracy is on the rise. Have they tried no corporate greed yet?

I have chronic sleeping problems therefore I love(d) taking naps but waking up afterwards is absolute hell. What should I do? **Edit: I have found a short-term solution**

I am currently struggling heavily with depression. Which impacts my quality of sleep. Sleep now has never been a talent of mine. So I generally make up for it by napping. I used to absolutely love it. Both the initial and the waking up (feeling well rested). But lately the waking up part is getting more and more difficult. It...

    billbasher ,

I like short coffee naps. It makes it really easy to get up afterwards. I’d only recommend it if you are able to fall asleep almost instantly though.

Basically you chug a cup of coffee and then nap, setting an alarm for 20-30m. Once you get woken up the coffee will be mostly in your system and you’ll feel really refreshed.

    billbasher ,

Nice yeah coffee isn’t always the play for me either for that reason. I like Yerba mate and white/green tea too

It shouldn’t unmount those system dirs unless you have a really weird setup or specify with —types.

    From the man page:

    -a, --all
All of the filesystems described in /proc/self/mountinfo (or

in deprecated /etc/mtab) are unmounted, except the proc,

devfs, devpts, sysfs, rpc_pipefs and nfsd filesystems. This

list of the filesystems may be replaced by --types umount

    option.

    https://www.man7.org/linux/man-pages/man8/umount.8.html

If you are using a system with snap like Ubuntu, it will unmount those since they are technically mounts. It will fail if an app is using the snap but subsequent opens of closed snaps will fail.
