Iron Maiden for example was basically Steve Harris' vision since the beginning and he ran through personnel until he could make it happen. Motorhead was a one-man band with collaborators as well. Kraftwerk was two guys with a vision who overcame a lot of technical barriers to do it. The intent was always clear, then the methods came later.
