wanting to hop into the world of linux on a dual boot method (one of my favorite games unfortunately cannot be run on linux at all, and it's a gacha. I don't want to gamble with my account being banned, so I'm keeping windows for it specifically.) this'll be my second go at it, I used Pop!_OS briefly but had some issues with...
How is it possible, that Signal still only provides a .deb package and no .rpm, or even better AppImage or Flatpak? There is an unofficial Flatpak but is it secure?
I currently use TinyWall Firewall, it works very well, it's small/portable, no complaints I even donated to the Dev but I would really prefer open source, also it needs to be user friendly like TinyWall so my non-tech family members can/will use it like they do with TinyWall.
Hello, i was looking for a wysiwyg html editors i could use for my personal website, perferrably just as a simple open source desktop program on linux (though anything else is fine). i DID find something called KompoZer but i was wondering if there's any other ones, thanks
I'm currently paying a moderate amount to atlassian to host jira for me, and I'm looking for a FOSS way to replace it. I don't use it every month and I've decided it's not worth continuing to pay, plus I want to transition to FOSS wherever I can. I just feel trapped. I really would like to delete my account there and move on. Is there anything, solid enough, with a good rating system, some lists that I can make for myself or at least a simple “to watch”?...
For me its honestly a ton of my work software (digital forensics), shit is too niche to be replaced by good FOSS options. Cellebrite, Magnet Axiom, etc. Autopsy is great and free and has a linux version but it simply cannot get the same level of data without a pretty nutty level of custom code....
Yesterday, there was a live scheduled by Louis Grossman, titled "Addressing futo license drama! Let's see if I get fired...". I was unable to watch it live, but now the stream seems to be gone from YouTube....
I recently came across openSUSE again and decided to give it a try this time. I am daily driving Fedora 40 right now and before coming across openSUSE I wanted to switch to Fedora Kinoite or uBlue Aurora (i.e., immutable / atomic). That's why MicroOS piqued my interest but I had a hard time find information if MicroOS is...
Started my first job, it's a helpdesk. It looks that I get tickets and try to help people on the other side, have build some PCs and am at first week....
A lot of the issues reported here, started showing up on my device after each OS update, but VLC didn't push any updates for over a year now... VLC is king, but what went wrong?...
I'm trying to get a new web site up and running with ghost, but I'm wondering if it's really designed for selling products, like the way Gumroad is, for example. I was attracted to ghost because of its built-in mailing list and blogging capabilities (and because it's open source), and I thought adding a "commerce element" for...
