Fenrisulfir , in [GPU] Asus TUF Gaming RTX 4090 OC ($2,449 - $150 in-store special = $2,299) [CC]

Don’t forget to never buy Asus products. Also that was the price for a 4090 like 2 years ago.

cygnus , in [Laptop] Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 13.3 Touchscreen AMOLED i5-1240P Processor/256GB/8GB RAM. ($1550 - $800 = $750) [BestBuy]
@cygnus@lemmy.ca avatar

I don't think I'd buy a new laptop with only 8GB RAM, especially if it's running Windows.

Poutinetown Mod , in [Laptop] Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 13.3 Touchscreen AMOLED i5-1240P Processor/256GB/8GB RAM. ($1550 - $800 = $750) [BestBuy]

Take the recommendation from reddit with a grain of salt: if you are looking for a Mac alternative, you should look into the battery life before deciding. This also has a touch screen and pen, so I'd say its much more an iPad/yoga/surface alternative with better keyboard than an alternative for Mac.

Also keep in mind that Linux on galaxy books is generally very unsupported and many components do not have drivers

5oap10116 , in Skytech Chronos Gaming PC Desktop INTEL Core i5 12400F 2.5 GHz, NVIDIA RTX 4060, 1TB NVME SSD, 16GB DDR4 RAM 3200, 650W GOLD PSU, 11AC Wi-Fi, Windows 11 Home 64-bit

I feel like 1K is a decent price for this (even though I' don't think the 4060 is worth) but I wouldn't want to invest in anything without DDR5 especially if it's only 16gb

Grass , in [CPU Cooler] SAMA PS240 240mm ARGB CPU Cooler ($79.99 + Free Shipping) [Newegg.ca]

That honestly looks disgusting

Poutinetown Mod , in [CPU] Ryzen 5500 ($200 - $120 = $80) (CC)

Might look good, but with price of mobo and ram it's not worth it (i.e. might as well spend more to get a better CPU).

recursive_recursion , in [GPU] MSI RTX 4070 SUPER VENTUS 2X WHITE (860 - 30 - 80 coupon = 750$) [CC]
@recursive_recursion@programming.dev avatar

the 7900 XT GRE's performance vastly outclasses the 4070 Super and currently as the 7900 XT GRE is $669.99 CAD the 4070 Super at $750 CAD is a complete joke

recursive_recursion , in [GPU] XFX Radeon RX 7900 GRE ($749.99 - $80 = $669.99) [Memory Express]
@recursive_recursion@programming.dev avatar

surprisingly this is actually a pretty good value

one downside is if this card is out of stock or if the length is too long

for anyone looking for alternatives I would recommend checking out Asrock's GRE as it's the exact same price and it's a much shorter card

  • the one downside from what I can tell is that it lacks dual BIOS whereas the XFX has it.
  • Newegg provides a 3 year warranty which is the same duration of the XFX
Riccosuave , in [Prebuild] ARMOURY Gaming PC AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, GeForce RTX 4060, 32GB DDR5, 1TB NVMe SSD, Wi-Fi 6, Windows 11 [$1349.99] [Canada Computers]
@Riccosuave@lemmy.world avatar

Is this a legit site?

CtrlAltDelight ,

Canada computers is 100% a legitimate site, and they also have brick and mortar stores all over. I'm in Ontario, and there's one about a 30 minute drive from me. I've used their website before to order things in, then go pick them up.

FunderPants ,

Despite its looks, yes it is.

FunderPants , in [Earbuds] Samsung Galaxy Buds FE - Graphite ($140 - $50 = $90) [Staples]

This seems like a good deal.

apprehensively_human ,

I use them daily and they're very good, though I've never used more expensive buds to compare them against.

FunderPants , (edited )

I'm glad to hear you think they're very good, I love to hear from people who own things and not just reviews.

I've only owned cheaper buds too but better over ear headphones. So I'm kind of wondering if I will be okay with buds given the non existent soundstage if the reproduction is otherwise good.

I'm really curious about the, apparently, excellent frequency response and neutral sound these buds have.

Right now I've got Anker Soundcore P3 and Soundcore life Q30 for mobile listening, but I don't really like either due to the sound profile.

I wonder if they're any better than some ChiFi KZ IEMs.

moody , in [CPU] AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D 12-core ($389) [Newegg] ATL

I've been keeping an eye on the 7800X3D lately and spotted this deal instead, and immediately snapped it up. It's currently $100 cheaper than the current lowest-priced 7800X3D.

FunderPants , (edited )

That's a really good deal to save $100 and get most of the gaming performance, plus the extra cores for productivity work.

Nice score.

Sat , in [SSD] M.2 2230 SN740 2 TB (123.34$) [Aliexpress/Factory Direct]

Buying storage media on Aliexpress can only go well

mipadaitu , in [HEADSET] SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Over-Ear Wireless Gaming Headset for PC, Mac, PlayStation & Nintendo Switch - Black ($115) or ($103) with Bell Advantage [The Source]

Big difference between the 7 and the 7x. Don't bother with the older 7.

_sideffect , in [PSU] Seasonic Focus GX-1000W 80+ Gold Full Modular, no white tax [$140][Memory Express]

Damn that's a good price for 1000w

Rentlar , in [PSU] Seasonic FOCUS GX-1000W 80+ Gold Full Modular ($250-110=$140) [CC] ATL

Great sale price for a reputable PSU maker.

I don't know who would have everything but a power supply for their build ready, but if you were waiting for a deal suitable for mid to highend PCs this is a good one. The power supply is the one component I wouldn't advise on cheaping out on.
