Have any of my #ActuallyAutistic people ever done an EEG? I'm reading about how those can be used for diagnostic purposes and though I'm already diagnosed, I'm intrigued and kind of want to see what it says about my brain.
@dramypsyd@actuallyautistic My daughter, yes. Gave her one hell of a headache for a couple of days. I can't remember what it was for though - she wasn't diagnosed yet then.
@dramypsyd @actuallyautistic No, but I have a pinned article about the hemispheric connectivity of autistics being all over the lot –there was no template, no pattern. When you’ve met an autistic...
@dramypsyd@actuallyautistic decades ago, to monitor that certain health issues don't turn out to be epileptic. Nothing conclusive. The results were weird enough to keep them worried without pointing to anything in particular.
@dramypsyd@actuallyautistic Not EEG but I had fMRI during my autism/ADHD diagnostic process to rule out brain damage as a possible factor with my issues (I've had several head injuries during my life). They found anomalies "unlikely to be injury related" and my neurodoc said the finding supports my AuDHD diagnosis, though couldn't explain exactly why and what the anomalies actually mean, cognitively.
@dramypsyd@actuallyautistic did a shit ton of them when i was a kid, trying to figure out a migraine situation. but that was almost 40 years ago, it wasn't a thing then, only thing i remember is them not being "normal ones", then being prescribed medication that made me sleepy, then on high-school another doctor looking at the still present migraines prescribed other medication that a few years ago i figured helps out adhd people focus 🤷 now i'm curious as well. i wonder if my family still have some of that stuff around 🤔
