Hell yeah! One of my favourite albums!

'Naer Solen...' is my favorite of theirs, but 'Slaughtersun' is undoubtedly more polished/refined. Can't go wrong really. Great fucking band.

quilan , in Dawn - The Knell And The World [Melodic Black Metal | Sweden | 1998]

I remember first listening to this album back in ~99, and man I couldn't even process its greatness. Love it. I remember reading, seemingly a million years years ago, that a follow up album was still in the works, but it's been 26 years now... I'll huff some more copium I guess.

Yeah, if I remember correctly it's called The Fourfold Furnace, or something like that. They've been working on it since MySpace was a thing. I saw an update on their facebook as recently as a couple years ago maybe that said that they were tracking in the studio. Sure are taking their sweet time with it. With as much (deserved) grief as Wintersun has gotten with Time 2, at least that's set to release this year. It's only been what, going on 16 years for the new Dawn album? I just hope if/when it comes out that it's actually good.

Nice, thanks for sharing

Just saw them play this live a few weeks ago, it was an amazing show.

I'm jealous! I've been wanting to see them live for years.

Same, it was a night I waited 15 years for haha

ziltoid101 , in Ayreon - Amazing Flight (1998)
@ziltoid101@lemmy.world avatar

Pure nostalgia for me. I went on a small road trip for my high school leavers and had some Ayreon CDs playing the whole time. By the end of the trip everyone was singing along. Absolute classic.

Axiochus , in Ayreon - Amazing Flight (1998)

My favorite band. This is one of the more traditional albums in terms of style, but also quite charming. Any similar bands? I can think of Haken and Toehider.

msage , in Blind Guardian - Mirror Mirror (1998)

Thank you for reminding me of this classic.

quilan , in Blind Guardian - Mirror Mirror (1998)

Absolute banger classic.

MisterMoo , in Blind Guardian - Mirror Mirror (1998)

One of the all-time greats.

Dagamant , in The Kovenant - Planetarium (1998)

Damn, that brings back some memories

Phenomephrene , in Diabolical Masquerade - Rider on the Bonez (1998)

Fuck yes! Excellent album. I'm going to have to spin this tomorrow now.

farcaster OP ,

It's so good. And also one of my most treasured 90s records I have on vinyl. Wish I had a pressing of Death's Design too.

MrJameGumb , in Witchery - The Reaper (1998)
@MrJameGumb@lemmy.world avatar

I got to see them live way back in like 2000!!! One of the best live shows I've ever been to!

towamo7603 , in Texas Toast Chainsaw Massacre, I Wanna Pet Your Dog

Based.

Tregetour , in 'Safe' Metal Bands and a campaign I'm part of
@Tregetour@lemdro.id avatar

Tackle, reclaim...these are marketing terms. How does the campaign operate? Reading between the lines I guess venues are supposed to feel pressure not to hire certain bands based on SNH paraphernalia being all over the place.

Can I listen to metal bands with hatred as a theme/inspiration and not 'be' a hater, or does that not fly in these circles?

leraje OP ,
@leraje@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

You can do whatever you want mate, just take the stick out of your arse first. No one's being pressured to do anything.

serpineslair , in History Of Black Metal (TheSuffocater)

Amazing covers.
