With several Lemmy instances using the .ml TLD I’ve seen people mention others being risky as well. Which should be avoided?

I recently finished the episode of The Verge's podcast #Decoder with the interview to Bluesky's CEO and it seems a quite interesting project....

Discoverability in this context meaning the ability to more effectively find public communities/people of interest. Alongside improving this however, respecting people's decisions on whether and how they may be found, if at all.

I read on reddit that on Lemmy you can see users' upvote/downvote history. I therefore expected to be able to see upvote/downvote breakdown by user for my own comments. But couldn't find this. Does this feature exist or is that a myth?

I didn't come to a new service just to see it get taken over by the corporate beasts who ruined the internet in general, and I am sure as hell am not going to use an instance that doesn't care about its users....

Meta exist to make a profit, however they're never going to be able to advertise to most people in the fediverse, who also happen to be some of the most knowledgeable people in some fields. If they accept that they're never going to be able to advertise to those people, they go for the next best thing: monetising their content....

So I know that there are some limitations for federation, especially if you are on a smaller instance. On Mastodon I stumble upon this problem on a daily basis. Here is an example. !hackernews used to be a feed posting things from the orange site. It stopped 3 months ago. Does anyone know how to get it back in action, or is there another somewhere else I can subscribe to?

What's going on with the server? My alt account lives there and he could use a welfare visit. It's been offline for at least three days....

If the spirit of the fediverse is to spread everything across small instances, then i think it would be really important to make communities, especially niche communities, easier to discover across instances. Since it is not planned to crawl federated instances community catalog, i think instance admins, or maybe even the lemmy...

By novel I mean not emulating an existing popular platform, e.g. Lemmy-Reddit, Mastodon-Twitter, etc.

I'm trying to find an android mastodon app that can handle links from outside the app and open them in the app. Tusky is not going to implement this feature request and I haven't seen anything from the official app nor Fedilab....

I think it's pretty safe to say that the majority of us are here to avoid another corporate takeover of our preferred platforms. It would seem to me to be a tad irresponsible to allow Facebook into our space with open arms, allowing them to hoover up our data. I would love to keep using Lemmy.world, but will happily change...

I think now is a great time to remind everyone, like sync's developer, Lemmy's developers need to be paid too! The amount of time all the devs put into making lemmy exist, in my opinion, should be worth some of your money. If you can afford it, donating to the people who develop lemmy and/or the people keeping your home instance...
