Is it an option to keep it open just referring to the new spot?

Is there a need to close it? Not really hurting anything?

hostops ,

Actually it is. New users may join wrong inactive community.

I vote for closing.

Having this community opens will give new joiners the impression that this community is inactive. Also, they might post there and be discouraged by seeing very low engagement on their post, while !europe is very active.

As I mentioned in the other comment, if you want to mod, you can probably reach out to the mods in !europe, they created the community a few days ago and could probably need your help.

I added a sticky to this one redirecting people to the feddit.org board. I don’t want to delete it immediately as not everyone here is necessarily subscribed there, let’s give it a bit of a transition window for people to notice before I delete the sub.

Hello,

Sorry for the late answer. When I meant "closing", I meant "locking" (only mods can post), you don't even need to delete it!

Hello,

@sparky, if you are interested in moderating, you might help people in !europe, they already have 587 active users in their first week

!europe for the new community

fantasty , in [Meta] Any reason to have this community compared to [email protected]?

!europe is active but feddit itself is abandoned unfortunately

this post on !main clarifies the next steps: https://lemmy.world/post/16420574

In summary, people are getting organized to manage the handover from the current admin to the new organization (kind of a similar process to what happened to feddit.uk some time ago)

Microw ,
@Microw@lemm.ee avatar

The recent update tells us no handover was able to happen, feddit.de will shut down and communities are invited to transfer to feddit.org

Nope, I'm all for closing down redundant inactive communities. It cuts down on confusion. If there are niche groups active then fine. But a lot of communities created after the APIcalypse have withered and died. They should be cleaned up imho.
