There was a deletion request for that package, because it is not intended for x86 and mirrors a package in the official repos. It seems like it was deleted. I remember it getting an update not to long ago.
Paramount+ won’t play on Linux and Netflix plays at a lower bitrate.
DRM video on Linux will vary service to service. This is because each service sets their own rules for DRM using widevine. One service may require different levels of security than others. Resulting in different results depending on this service.
Unfortunately Linux is not a priority for these services and you’re likely out of luck.
Does edge still provide the best streaming experience on Linux? I haven't streamed anything from my Linux machines in a while but that used to work well for most streaming providers. It coaxed 1080p out of a couple that would only serve 720p to Chrome IIRC.
The pkgbuild should not depend on it if you build in x64, that is only a display Problem in the web i think. Firefox should be avle to download its own copy of widevine though.
Check the note below that section. It will attempt to unlock all root partitions with the same passphrase entered, so if you setup the second drive with encryption it will unlock alongside your primary drive. With LVM on top you should then be able to expand the VG to the second drive to add space or redundancy to your LVs.
I had something similar happen to me with Debian 12. I believe pressing ALT + F7 after it reached that "power off" message forced the computer to power off. Something caused it to get stuck, but I'm not 100% sure. It may have been some bug with my Samba file share setup, but I have no way of confirming that.
Not sure if this will work for you, but it's worth a try. Good luck and hope you solve the issue!
I ended up solving it by installing kde plasma. I’d previously tried with as minimal an install as possible to narrow down the problem, but it seems all I had to do was carry on setting things up as I’d originally wanted!
Well, actually ... As the Internet gets older (and more filled with ads and pop up windows and cookie banners and "Do not forget to subscribe!") we'll see the day that some people will answer Linux questions from 30 years ago, especially when the OP did forget a [Solved!] in the post title :-)
I do not think your issues are in any way unique. I am also using Plasma 6 on Arch with a 3080 Ti. Initially, it simply booted to a black screen with nothing but a cursor, and no ability to do anything.
Adding the changes to /etc/mkinitcpio.conf per @markus 's reply as well as adding those kernel params to my /boot/refind_linux.conf, and now it boots into a desktop, but I am seeing large amounts of flickering, windows going black, or visual elements flickering in and out. Looking at my installed packages, I already had both xorg-xwayland and wayland-protocols (per @Varen 's reply) installed.
It seems like there are still more steps before what I would consider a usable result. Personally, it was not "obvious" to me when Plasma 6 rolled out that I needed to do any of this.
