@ml and the point is not that it is a "zero effort" solution or "not done by human professionals", the point is that AI-generated captions are not good enough in quality to provide sufficient accessibility, and therefore using AI as only accessibility measure is a fucking poor excuse.

@ml @disability @academicchatter AUTO CAPTIONING IS THE LOWEST BAR and in no way should be thought of as a replacement for human captioning, which is a SKILL and there are SKILLED PROFESSIONALS who can live caption your event.

@ml @disability @academicchatter This is the exact kind of stuff I’m talking bout when I say that so-called AI will probably actually be regressive in terms of accessibility because it will make a lot of people think less about accessibility as an act because they think these tools will already able to do whatever is needed. . sigh
