NPR has a story about them today which reminded me of this song from the mid-90s....

It's a Saturday night/early Sunday morning in 1994. You've just returned home from a gig, stopping off for some junk food, to soak up the booze, on your way. You flick on the TV, adjust the antenna because the signal isn't that great sometimes, and switch on an overnight music video show....

Nice tune from Quivers who are from Melbourne, Australia. Having recently signed with Merge Records, they have released this single. There's a (not so subtle) nod to Pavement in there. There is also an album on the way....

I first got intro'd to the music of Laura Kidd AKA She Makes War, Penfriend and Obey Robots in about 2010. I didn't really take enough time to really listen to her stuff properly, so didn't get very engaged with her work....

This band is based in Bristol in the UK. They sound a lot like The Velvet Underground, so they also sound like Luna/Galaxie 500 and all the other VU influenced bands. I believe they are from Toronto. They are in my mental filing system next to The Sundays, Cocteaus and Innocence Mission. This is a lovely song....
