Adolf Hitler. I am not worthy of raising my voice to speak about Adolf Hitler, and his life and deeds do not lend themselves to sentimentality. He was a warrior, a warrior for mankind and preacher of the gospel of rights for all nations. He was a reformer of the highest rank, and his historical fate was to work in a time of the meanest rawness that in the end felled him. This is how the average Western European dare see Adolf Hitler. And we, his closest followers, now bow our heads at his death. Knut Hamsun
