43 We Yevgeny Zamyatin. I'm not sure about this. Written in the 1920s, it is set in a future state that is isolated from nature. People are denoted by a letter/number code and all activities are timed and regulated by the state. Even personal relations are by way of pink slips. Both of the female characters display a different rebellious streak. Its a book that raises more questions than answers. It served as inspiration for Orwell's 1984. This feels more innocent, somehow. @bookstodon
