If you read large print or dyslexic font paperback books do you prefer this to be indicated on the cover (say on a banner at the top) to help you identify the accommodation?

I compiled a quick poll based on different perspectives I've read.

➡️ Please consider sharing to help me reach more readers.

@BZBrainz @bookstodon "Large Print" is the more common label. Some people still don't know what a 'font' is.

@rayckeith @bookstodon Thank you, Ray! Absolutely. I think I’ll edit my original post as this is what I meant.

Settling down for my nightly explorations of other worlds, aka reading, and thinking about how you know a book is a good book when you don’t want to reach the ending.

The Sword of Kaigen by M. L. Wang has been one of those books. Where the 500+ previous pages went I have no idea because they flew by.

Couple of bookclub gatherings ago, we read Devotion by Hannah Kent. Amazing experience.

    https://bookwyrm.social/book/435971/review#reviews

Everything in this story is leading somewhere amazing. It's emotional, beautiful, touching, surprising and so incredibly moving. Sniffed, snuffled and out and out cried my way through the last part of this book.

@kcfromaustcrime @bookstodon Finally got hold of this beautifully written multi-levelled love story. Like her other two brilliant novels of , she shows she has done the research and thinking and internalized the stories and feelings of the time and place as well as the relentless control and persecution of the feminine and the 'other'. This 3rd novel is personal for Kent. Highly recommend it.

Four stars: Monsters: A Fan's Dilemma by Claire Dederer (2023) is an expansion of the essay "What do we do with the art of monstrous men?" (2017). In it the author explores death of the artist and things that are allowed in the name of "genius."

No, but I certainly heard "Janie's Got a Gun" by Aerosmith in the 1990s!

And now Chris Kraus's Where Belongs has me in that spot of yearning for creative collectives that emerge out of the absolutely right coincidental conditions and bust out all the best stuff because they function outside of institutional bounds, qualifications, and ambitions. I'm going to find such a community one day, damn it...

    4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was absolutely unhinged. That’s the best way I can describe it. The main character was unhinged, the way the book took a turn and nearly became a horror novel was unhinged. The way it ended was unhinged. I was getting so enraged at the main character’s behavior that I was live reacting as I read in a mutual’s DMs who had just finished reading the book the week prior.

Would I read this book again? Probably. Not anytime in the near future though. Aside from the insane plot line, this book touched on themes like interpersonal racism, discrimination, identity and authenticity, representation, cultural appropriation, and cancel culture.

A tech report just got covered on slashdot: there's a known bug with propagation of links with images causing temporary transfer overloads, especially on smaller servers. The lag symptom I saw is not mentioned, but I wonder if it might be related.

📚 Just finished reading: The Motorcycle Diaries by Ernesto Guevara (2021 edition)

The diary of Che Guevara's journey to discover the continent of Latin America while still a medical student, in 1952 on a vintage Norton motorcycle with his friend Alberto Granado, a biochemist. It captures the exuberance and joy of one person's youthful belief in the possibilities of humankind tending towards justice, peace and happiness.
