Once I've spent a couple of weeks with someone and decided I like them, I just straight up ask them if they want to go on a date and see if anything romantic happens. If they're upset because I didn't flirt well enough or because I was direct, it wouldn't work between us anyway.
And I don't really understand why you'd want to ask someone out if you don't know them well, but I gather that that makes me unusual
