Ugh and then CDPR used a genre as a name for their game, tarnishing it.

warm ,

Hadn't heard of that! I doubt many others have either.

warm ,

Just slap them on the wrist and send them on their way.

warm ,

5 is simpler, but still with a lot of depth and a high skill ceiling. 6 just added more systems without much rhyme or reason. That's what I felt anyway, I also massively preferred 5's art style.

I suppose they would only find out when the account is still in use after 130 years.

Or if they cared to check payment details and such.

warm ,

1 - screen protector
2 - do people not lock their phones before putting them in their pockets?

How is everything these Israeli officials say just the most delusional shit ever?

Poor upbringings. It's easy to become a parent, but it isn't easy to be a parent.

Apple copy Samsung too, Apple just has good marketing and gives random names to standard tech to make it sound like its something amazing you should care about.

Samsung wanted to sell wireless buds too, so they also removed the 3.5mm port. At least their SD card slot stuck around for a bit longer. They could release a true flagship if they wanted with a 3.5mm port and an SD card slot, but why would they when millions of people buy their phones each year anyway?

Both are shitty in their own ways, but at least Samsung is Android.

warm ,

That was a good change. I'd argue even removing the cable would be a good change. Less e-waste (even though releasing phones every year is e-waste enough).
The bad thing was Apple then selling a charger at extortionate prices, you didnt have to buy theirs though.

4 months durability for an $800 phone!

My old $200 Motorola G9 Power phone lasted almost 4 years with only very minor scratches. Obviously in that period I have dropped it a few times getting out of the car, where the phone sometimes work itself out of my pant pocket while I drive, and then it slips out when I get out of the car. But no problem on my previous phones,...

The Sony Xperia phones offer IP68 with an SD card slot and a 3.5mm port. They just have poor software support and cost a shit ton.

warm ,

That's good then. Still kind of low, but not terrible like before.

Getting into Civ 6

I got into Civilization rather late with their fifth entry. I was hesitant because as I get older I need more time to game than I do new titles. Still I picked up six with all DLC during the last sale. I have to say I am liking the changes. It was good to wait because Civ does need its DLCs to feel complete....

5 is superior imo, it's more simple to understand but has a lot to master. It's more visually appealing too, Civ 6 throws so much extra crap at you.

5 is more depth from simple mechanics. 6 is adding mechanics to try and make depth.
I'd recommend 5 for sure, though 2K are kind of scummy and put 6 on discounts to try and force players into that and no longer really put Civ 5 on sale cause they know people would rather buy that.

warm ,

Yeah, 5 isnt too bad unless you got loads of units late game. 6 overwhelmed me from the get go.

warm ,

This might be one of the worst designed maps I have ever seen...

warm ,

The game should be offline co-op anyway (and P2P). So many co-op games just made 'always online' for the sake of MTX.

warm ,

I present to you: Helldivers 1.

Its just an arbitrary mechanic added to justify an always online requirement. Helldivers had an offline option. There's still a game there without the need for "community involvement", the missions etc could be completely random or seeded for people who dont want to connect to a server.

Its always sad to see potential great games ruined by greed.

warm ,

You are right, it does provide something. I just personally don't value it over a more typical online co-op setup. I just wish options weren't scary and implemented more.

warm ,

That says more about the core gameplay than the community feature.

[Serious] Why do so many people seem to hate veganism?

Seen a lot of posts on Lemmy with vegan-adjacent sentiments but the comments are typically very critical of vegan ideas, even when they don't come from vegans themselves. Why is this topic in particular so polarising on the internet? Especially since unlike politics for example, it seems like people don't really get upset by it...

warm ,

Why do they believe you only find protein in meat?

warm ,

Sony being scumbags? Who saw that coming? They definitely don't have that reputation...

warm ,

This is one of those shitty products that you can see being shitty from a mile away, yet all the coverage and discussion around it gives it a life it otherwise wouldn't have had.

warm ,

There just isnt though. Spotify had the best UX of any music streaming service for the longest time and only recently have they started shooting themselves in the foot.
Lossless is pointless and not a selling point compared to interface and usability across hardware. Tidal is probably it's closest competitor, but it still doesnt have the integration Spotify does.

warm ,

Yes, I made this point in my comment, the last few years Spotify has been going through the same UX disaster the rest of the web is, changing things for the sake of it.

warm ,

Even in blind tests with high end gear, people often mistake 320kbps MP3s as the lossless track. Compression is incredible these days and isn't inherently a bad thing like it used to be, it saves a lot of space and bandwidth with minimal to no perceivable difference in quality.

And as you point out, not even worth considering with average equipment.

warm ,

Or if there is a noticeable difference, you have to really listen for it. Which if you wanna do that, then fine, but the vast majority of the time usually have music on while they are doing something else and don't sit listening for every subtle difference, if one exists.

warm ,

Linux users do this and then wonder why no one wants to switch to linux.
