Bitte gerne boosten, danke :)

@actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd Is it an ADHD/autistic thing to have tons of tabs open in your browser? I do this :blobfoxlaughsweat: what happens is I'll think of something, open a tab, and then forget that I opened it

I do this thing that I call 'tab grazing', where I have to go through all my old tabs and either consume whatever info is in it / do what I wanted to do there (if I remember) before I close it, or close it immediately. I am forbidden to open any new tabs during a grazing session, unless absolutels necessary. I am only allowed to freely open new tabs once I've closed all the old ones.
Remembering that I'm not to open new tabs is the hardest part.

So, the last few meals my husband cooked were super good, and I when I told him yesterday that he's on a streak of very above average cooking... He started to laugh and said that he changed his seasoning, and that the last meals that I loved so much only had granulated garlic and lovage salt in them.
I guess I should feel kind of insulted but I'm autistic and it makes sense that I prefer food that mostly just tastes like what's in it plus some umami?

@vger @actuallyautistic

When I cook (which is rare), I mostly just use some cheese as seasoning :D

And I feel the same, food with seasoning doesn't necessarily taste bad, but without most of it it's even better. I feel like I can focus more on the taste of the actual ingredients instead of having to taste them somewhere between all the herbs and spices.
Also, strong tastes and too many tastes at once are overwhelming to me. I literally had flashbacks after a salad I once ate -.-

You know you're autistic when you've been sick in bed for days and then notice that there's something else wrong, and at first you can't pinpoint what it is, but then you realise that you've been too out of it and out of your routine to do your favourite stim. And then you do your stim and instantly, everything feels so much less bad.

Can someone please explain why in the assessment of the level of support needs, it's all about social and routines/repetitive behaviours, and there's nothing about how sensory overwhelm is a Very Big Problem for many autistics?
I can deal with the social stuff (avoid) and the routines/rb (don't do them in public), but the sensory storm of going to the store is A Real Problem for me.

I've got this .pdf that was created to help clinicians with diagnosis. If you scroll down to criterion D you'll see the things they check for with regards to support needs.

That makes a depressing amount of sense...

Support means you get items to help you and people to support you by assisting you with the things you can't do (on your own). This works for social and routine stuff just as much as for sensory things.

If I need someone to do the shopping for me, that's true wether I can't shop due to social stuff or due to sensory stuff. Wether I need an expensive communication tablet due to language stuff or expensive ANC headphones due to sensory stuff, I still need it.
