Dolphins. Everyone wants to talk about sharks taking an annual toll on people, nobody wants to acknowledge dolphins will screw more with humans just for the lulz.

Where do the rural homeless near you live?

This seems to be something people don't always give second thought to. When people talk about the homeless, the first things thought about are images of people on busy city streets in rusty clothes waiting around near allies. In there, the answer is quite static, because it can be I guess. But if that's the case, change the...

shinigamiookamiryuu OP ,

I should've seen that coming.

shinigamiookamiryuu OP ,

That looks a lot like how it works where I live.

shinigamiookamiryuu OP ,

Nobody offered a former millionaire a roof to stay under for ten years?

shinigamiookamiryuu OP ,

There are homeless shelters here too, but it's not as easy as just making it clear you're homeless. For us, there are so many hoops to jump through that many will feign mental illness to get a "free" stay at the psych ward because it's actually easier.

shinigamiookamiryuu OP ,

You say that like rural areas don't have crop fields.

In all seriousness, I know enough about it to know it's not too different. Dumpsters and trash cans can be found anywhere for example, though they're not great sources of food in either place. I was once an anonymous rural example, but it's for that reason one could look at me and say they don't think we exist in rural areas. I was lucky enough though to couch hop. Others found solace under a local landmark, but not all rural areas have those, though they might have other things. I felt bad for one who asked me for a ride since I don't drive.

shinigamiookamiryuu OP ,

I've never been to a rural area where there weren't at least a few places with a higher passerby frequency than that.

shinigamiookamiryuu OP ,

The owners sound like they were being covertly generous.

shinigamiookamiryuu ,

It depends on the circumstances, circumstances I will not claim to fully know in their case. Giving weapons as a concept does seem odd though, it sounds like someone didn't get the "give a man a fish" memo.

shinigamiookamiryuu ,

No, as I am not of any party that has primaries.

shinigamiookamiryuu ,

A little of them all, just enough to be a jill of all trades but a mistress of none.

shinigamiookamiryuu ,

The effort one can do will be in vain if the society doesn't take what one might call mental illness and the forces of nature into account. There would be no language restrictions, but verbal minimalism would be prioritized. The numerical system would be Base 6, and I'm infamous for speaking on the concept of timing.

VPN's can be banned though.

shinigamiookamiryuu ,

How are they caught then in countries that try to restrict digital access and have criminalized them?

shinigamiookamiryuu ,

There are ways to ban them even if it evades detection though. Incompatible formatting and mobile applications come to mind. Charleston in South Carolina having the highest concentration of diehard privacy maintainers goes over nobody's head, having it come up as one's location is like wearing a label that says "I am not who I appear to be" and is the source of the most common geoblock in the free world. Probably a giveaway I help keep the peace in a few sites.

I would be sad to see a kid not enjoy a gift and do that, but not outright against whatever they do with it.

shinigamiookamiryuu ,

There's a movie called A Serbian Film that will make the everyday person lose their marbles. Not my friend apparently, he's like "come on in and watch this movie with me that I'll proceed to use to test my manliness". So me and my other friend walk in to him sitting in a dull pebble chair about to consume a bowl of carolina reapers as his "movie snack". She could not sit through the first segment, and I think I had trouble halfway through, but there he is, just absorbing what everyone says is the most graphic movie of all time.

shinigamiookamiryuu ,

Do things count that I got into when it was already dead?

shinigamiookamiryuu ,

Just about every anime I've been into. Transformers, the old Pokémon series, all the Saban content I've fangirled over...

shinigamiookamiryuu ,

They aren't, just the ones I'm into.

If you could take a single character out of a piece of media (book, film, TV show, video game, etc) who would it be?

They would lose any magical powers they may have had in the book, but anything they are, rather than can do, will stay. For example people from the His Dark Materials world would keep their daemons. You can take them out at any time in the story's plot, but for all other people consuming the media, it will be shown that the...

When was the last time you felt helpless in life?

I'm 24 and dealing with high blood pressure. I've seen five doctors, had countless tests, and they all say the same thing: "Take these pills and try to reduce pressure in your life." It's as though my blood pressure and heart rate have minds of their own, fluctuating freely without any reason....

shinigamiookamiryuu ,

We're all humans. In some way, shape, or form, we all feel helpless about one thing or another to an extent. People are poorly built for independence, especially if talking about in the form of single person homes, nuclear families, and jobs that involve a routine that's set in stone. There is no such thing as complete soundness of mind, and parenting without the co-parenting help of the village is a huge balancing act. We are also often caught off-guard by the sheer complexity of some of the matters we face as well as those others face, with many moving parts we can piece together while others are perpetually in our blind spots. All those people you mention who go partying and drinking, although they may argue they're living to the fullest in our crude world, take their perception of how experience works for granted. I've seen people whom everyone looks at with awe as the person soars to new heights before they are hit with a chronic medical condition, the one thing money can never protect you from. I myself have been reminded of my own unchangeable limits, having just the right set of circumstances that take my friends and family away from me, being pressured into resuming a past relative's residence which moved me away from friends by a few hundred miles and invoked jealousy in my remaining family members. The truth will always be that humans will find it more ideal to be unconditionally generous and interdependent onto each other, without the cue of any system of thinking, which will be especially true as the complexity of existence increases and our intelligence grows which will cause more mental disorder to arise. I might have anhedonia, the medical community's name for what comes off to them as a lack of motivational feelings towards the world, but I still can feel when the world lacks what it suffers without.

shinigamiookamiryuu OP ,

People have to cut it out with their obsession with AI sooner or later. I've been accused of this multiple times based on articulation, which is hardly fair especially when the subject matter overlaps with those kinds of things.

shinigamiookamiryuu OP ,

One could also, I don't know, ask what something means if they're unsure. I, unlike some of you, don't judge people for not understanding something or for coming across as tripping over words, something my main demographic can relate to. "Stumbling misguided artificial intelligence" sounds like grasping at straws.

shinigamiookamiryuu OP ,

...and? You say that like that's somehow unbecoming of a human to cite.

shinigamiookamiryuu OP ,

It looks pretty average to me.

shinigamiookamiryuu OP ,

Thanks, I may end up doing this. And as some of what I've said hints, neurodivergence may be some of it, though that's more complex to measure.

What happened to all the baddies you knew growing up?

I don't know if this is something people say in other countries, but in my country, there's this common cliché or "wisdom" where adults will assure you that the people who picked on you in environments like school will universally develop lives of hardship later on, one way or another getting into mayhem....

shinigamiookamiryuu ,

I am typically this when someone accuses me of being a hypocrite. Either way, I certainly do tolerate it though, in fact I have a system for it.

shinigamiookamiryuu ,

That works both ways though. Even the fable where the quote originated had that as a takeaway.

shinigamiookamiryuu ,

That the government adds a "cause a car accident remotely" option to vehicles so that offending individuals traveling by car may die by the government remotely tweaking the car.

shinigamiookamiryuu ,

Coming from experience, I would think a car being submerged sounds like the least convenient time for it to stop working.

shinigamiookamiryuu ,

I'm an asexual, so if by that you mean classic, two-way bodily mingling, then nowhere besides my dreams, and I'm not even sure about that. I'm not averse to it, which is a miracle considering past experiences, but I don't look forward to it either.
