Had to reveal a couple of squares in Telegraph and Crosshare so I won’t include them today.

scytale ,

Maps is admittedly a google service I actively use because it really is reliable and up-to-date for navigation, so this is good news.

scytale ,

Yep. Wife and I take a multivitamin with an emphasis in vitamin D because we both avoid the sun as much as possible. The rest just supplement other vitamins that we otherwise don't get enough of because of our regular diet.

scytale ,

How about foot powder? Ever since I first tried it, I've never worn socks and shoes without putting on foot powder first ever again. It really helps with sweat and odor.

scytale ,

Maybe you can try the ones that don’t have aluminum in them and just use corn starch. It’s similar to deodorant vs antiperspirant, with the latter being the most effective, because it has aluminum in it.

scytale ,

A résumé-generating event for sure.

scytale ,

Aren’t there cargo nets and other accessories for that? I get it if you have perishable groceries that need to be kept frozen until you get home and it’s hot outside.

I did Telegraph but it was too hard for me I had to reveal some letters.

I don't usually go along with trends, so my worst one is the starbucks planner thing where you collect stickers for every coffee you buy and you get a planner notebook for the coming year. Most expensive notebook I ever bought, and a waste of money. Also feels disgusting giving all that money to starbucks. This was like15 years ago though.

I had no idea he was actually in prison. I thought he was still holed up in an embassy of some country.

scytale ,

All the obvious ones have been mentioned already, so I'll just add:

  • Keyboard tray if your desk doesn't have one. It allows you to achieve the 90 degree arm position without having to set your desk too low or your chair too high.

  • Wrist pad. A nice gel pad provides great support for your wrist. Just make sure your keyboard and mouse are at the appropriate heights, because if not, a wrist pad can make it worse.

  • Head rest add-on to your chair if it doesn't have one.

  • Laptop stand to lift your laptop screen to eye level. It also helps to keep it aligned to an external monitor so they are the same heights.

scytale ,

The difference is OP probably got their device with Windows already installed and they only needed to go through the setup steps. Setting up the installation media really is the biggest barrier of entry to linux right now. A lot of distros are so easy to set up with a step-by-step gui installer, but a lot of non technical users don’t have the knowledge, skill, or motivation to download an iso and create a bootable drive.

Arch was stable for me in the 5-6 years I used it (I’ve moved on to other distros since). The only issues I really had were grub and display related problems that were fixable in less than an hour. As another comment said, a quick search will instantly show you someone who already had the same issue and how it was resolved.

Options for non-smart TV in UK 2024?

I am considering replacing my old 50" 1080p TV which I use with (external) Chromecast and Roku. I would like a 4K display 60" or greater but I really, really don't want any smart features. I am aware that I could purchase a commercial display to achieve this and that's my fallback option. Can anyone here make any useful...

scytale , (edited )

Well there aren’t really a lot of options with OP’s requirements, so something has to give. It’s either that, or:

  • Projector, but not super great quality and needs specific setups (dark room).

  • Extra large monitor, but heavy and expensive.

  • Smart TV that lets you bypass setup without connecting to the internet - best option, but they will have to find an exact model and someone who has tried it to confirm before they buy.

Cool! I might join as this is another avenue to get my music out to more audiences, but I agree with the other comment, not discord please.

scytale ,

I seriously never realized that and only found out today they are father and son.

scytale ,

My org has a follow-the-sun rule and avoids having people work on weekends. It helps that it's a global team, so there's only around maybe 18-20 hours in the middle of the weekend where it's not a Monday or Friday somewhere in the world.

scytale ,

Can I post my own officially published music there?

scytale ,

Amazing! I've been using SinkIt For Reddit for a while. It's great to have an actual app again. Thank you for this!

scytale ,

There was a video a few years back of Sinclair(?) or something that had all the networks they owned say the same thing, and it was very dystopian.

scytale ,

PrivacyTools.io, which had a nasty takeover and started selling ad space.

Didn’t know that. Thanks for the heads up.

scytale ,

3 weeks so far lol. I’ll probably have to finally mow next week before it gets unmanageable.

scytale ,

Make music. Travel, if money isn't an issue.

This was the worst. I was happy to see a compact EV SUV I can actually afford, and I'm all for big screens; but to remove the instrument cluster/gauge and put THAT on the infotainment screen as well is so dumb.

When you stopped caring about staying in good shape?

I completely stopped caring about 2 years ago, I realized I was never going to do anything with my good look and that I will never get into a relationship in my life, so I just figured out "what's the point then, I'm already invisible to women?" And I don't care about my health tbh......

scytale ,

A little different in my case. I started intermittent fasting last year and lost some weight to get to my ideal weight for my height. I was probably 10-ish lbs over before I started. Now that I'm skinnier and able to maintain it because of IF, I also lost some muscle mass, at least visually. What I hate with being skinny is upper arms get too thin and all my shirt sleeves look big as I can't fill them out. Since I'm too lazy to go to the gym to get my biceps/triceps bigger, I gave up and just accepted my skinny arms and legs. At least that's better than being overweight as I get older.

scytale ,

Ginger Ale. No caffeine and the sugar-free version is pretty good.

What song should I play for my bathroom neighbors?

The work bathroom is currently a warzone, on their phone speakers people like to play music, play games at full blast, and one guy likes to chill to ambient rainforest. What song can I play to passive aggressively make it known that I don't want to listen to their tik tok feeds while I work out my demons?

scytale ,

Lmao let’s see them try to time their farts with Alien Hip Hop.

scytale ,

Friend of mine was helping me set up a doorbell camera today and although it was wireless, it had the connections for a wired camera as well. We weren't sure which colored wires go where so we both looked it up on our phones. I was using startpage and he used google. The AI generated google answer was the complete opposite of the first couple of results from startpage (google without the AI). We could've risked a short.

I've used multiple monitors (2-3) for the longest time. Switched to a widescreen last year and never looked back. Now I just use one monitor plus my laptop as an extra screen for static apps.

He’s an entertainer and nothing else. Don’t confuse him as a sports analyst because he has no valuable input. His purpose is to generate as much outrage as possible for clicks and views.

scytale ,

It’s owned by EFF, which AFAIK is still a trusted org. You might be thinking of Adblock Plus or Ghostery.

scytale ,

On mobile so only NYT worked for me today. 01:24

scytale ,

The dev is probably on a break. Either way, hopefully he comes back. It's still working for me though. Are you using it directly via alexandrite.app or via your instance?

scytale ,

Probably. I use the dev-hosted one and it works fine.

scytale ,

Circling back. It looks like they did something this week and the filter no longer works. Any chance you know of a new filter?
