What is the Legal copyright on a Lemmy Post?

Most instances don't have a specific copyright in their ToS, which is basically how copyright is handled on corporate social media (Meta/X/Reddit owns license rights to whatever you post on their platform when you click "Agree"). I've noticed some people including Copyright notices in posts (mostly to prevent AI use). Is this...

Does that mean creative commons doesn't really mean anything? I have my website cc by sa, thinking or changing it to cc by sa no cc but I feel like companies would still take my stuff from my website.

pineapplelover ,

Those ai articles are almost surely there to distribute affiliate links. Not really to be trusted. So yeah, I still append "reddit" to product recommendation searches

pineapplelover ,

Maybe there's a pixel iso out there to put on a vm idk

pineapplelover ,

Where's the ultra power saving mode? I use Pixel

pineapplelover ,

Maybe I just don't have it on grapheneos or something cause I can't find it

pineapplelover ,

The OS is not a problem I can guarantee you that. Fedora is a fine operating system

pineapplelover ,

I guess you can install it if that's an issue then.

Cool guy. Solid content he makes. I also recommend Dime Store Adventures.

pineapplelover ,

Peter or dime store adventures? Peter, I could see, he's also a bit right winged I think.

I have disabled autocorrect in my (android) keyboard settings. That disables it system wide, works for me.

I was actually planning on building a smart mailbox but then I found out USPS had a thing called Informed Delivery so they will take pictures if I have any incoming mail and have pictures of them before they are delivered.

pineapplelover ,

If I do get mail from Ebay or something or whatever I order, chances are, they'll ask for my email and that information will be sent to me anyways. So having the usps informed delivery will cover all my bases.

Durian is amazing if you've had it when you were younger. So if you got a young one, train them to try out new foods, fruits, vegetables, then they won't be picky eaters. I had durian when I was younger and love the shit out of it. Those who aren't, are likely to be disgusted by it.

pineapplelover ,

Why is it ruined for you? I've had durian before durian ice cream and they are both really good.

A product you were just talking about pops up in an online ad. How? Advertising algorithms are so good that they may know what you want even before you do. C...

Download Instagram and start talking about dogs and dog food and it will give you posts and ads about dog food. My friend was talking about random stuff like feet and foot fetishes the other day and you wouldn't believe what was on their feed when they were scrolling.

Which is probably even more unhealthy than regular coke since it uses the same or more amount of sugar but artificial sugar.

pineapplelover , (edited )

I swear I read somewhere that diet sodas had the equivalent amount of regular sugar but as artificial sweetener so it wasn't really all that healthy. Apparently I'm wrong about this.

Edit: found one that says it has linked health risks to diet sodas but it's not too sure why.

I have pretty much the same exact resume as OP and I've done home stuff like jellyfin yet I haven't put that on my resume. I should do that then shouldn't I, hee hee.

I think windows+v syncs to microsoft servers or something. I remember when I was running chris titus tech's debloat script it removed that functionality.

What is this referring to? I think I'm OOTL

Do you use the device you torrent on for personal things as well?

I'm just curious as I've permanently dedicated my laptop to torrenting. I've been too nervous to install anything but the VPN and Firefox on it. Now, I'm curious to mess around with Linux some more, which is what I use on it, but I can't fully test out what all I can do with it without signing into accounts....

pineapplelover ,

Yeah, although, now that you bring it up, I might want to put it in a vm.

pineapplelover ,

Don't most of them record to just a microsd?

pineapplelover ,

Yet all those Instagram bots still exist. Weird

After announcing increased prices, Spotify to Pay Songwriters About $150 Million Less Next Year ( www.billboard.com )

When Bloomberg reported that Spotify would be upping the cost of its premium subscription from $9.99 to $10.99, and including 15 hours of audiobooks per month in the U.S., the change sounded like a win for songwriters and publishers. Higher subscription prices typically equate to a bump in U.S. mechanical royalties — but not...

Hopefully the team figures out a way to disable this

pineapplelover ,

The team has done it! Hurrah!.

So you're implying that if the phone doesn't have a google account signed in, it won't even have the find my device when powered off? Sounds good.

I actually set simplelogin as recovery lol

pineapplelover ,

But all emails are encrypted so they can't be read anyways.

pineapplelover ,

As far as I know, Simplelogin doesn't store anything.

https://simplelogin.io/faq/

pineapplelover ,

Yeah that won't work outside lan unless you vpn or something

pineapplelover ,

Wait really? How? I would imagine some port forwarding or something would need to be done though.

pineapplelover ,

The chat is almost immediate for me. I would tell them over the chat.

What email provider do you use for sign ups?

I used to use Protonmail, however the verification steps become tedious when creating unique emails for sign ups. I've switched to Tutanota despite it contravening their one account policy. What do you all use for one off emails (for sign ups etc )? Or do you prefer one of those 10 minute email sites?

pineapplelover ,

Yeah you get like 10. Which is still pretty useful if you manage them correctly. Like one for banking, one for gaming, random signups, etc

There was an article that caught Microsoft's own IT support use this script to activate a customer's computer so I guess Microsoft approves of it.

Why Your VPN May Not Be As Secure As It Claims ( krebsonsecurity.com )

Virtual private networking (VPN) companies market their services as a way to prevent anyone from snooping on your Internet usage. But new research suggests this is a dangerous assumption when connecting to a VPN via an untrusted network, because attackers on the same network could force a target’s traffic off of the protection...

I also think this. Am I autistic? I feel like normal people think these thoughts too. Any normal people here to verify?

pineapplelover ,

I can't do eye contact. I feel it's very strange. But my friend told me that was kinda normal.
