As a kid I rarely listened to anything, these days I put on Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio show, just go bacl to the start I've heard up to the third phase often but not the further ones as much. In the more recent past it may have been a Harry Potter (UK) book or again Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy voiced by Stephen Fry. Guess that's a lot of UK stuff considering I'm Canadian, but Fry has such a nice voice to drift off to.

I kinda thought he was attempting a joke but he only knows how to be mean for a laugh and has no idea why an actual joke works. But since his fans will cheer for anything mean it doesn't help either. Like the toddler that learned people laugh when they say a swear word, let's just keep doing that until nap time.

First year programming in the late 90s .. segmentation fault? I put printfs everywhere. Heh. You'd still get faults before the prints happened, such a pain to debug while learning. Though we weren't really taught your point of the comment at the time.

Least that was my experience on an AIX system not sure if that was general or not, the crash before a print I mean.

I may be wrong but I think it'd be the same issue in that the bios wouldn't boot the OS from that sort of drive. For whatever reason that caused it I think it'd be a similar issue. That said by the time DVD drives being common enough for a server drive, most BIOSs would be able to handle it fine and a fair bit of time after this was needed.

Though I kinda thought with proper configuration cd rom drives were all bootable, but I wasn't working with servers in that era either so there were probably some mobos/bios that didn't work properly for booting a cd/DVD drive. Closest to the time I was familiar with was XP and pretty sure that was expected to be CD bootable in 2001. So maybe this kicked in the bios support for bootable non floppy disc drives?

If it walks like a Nazi, looks like a Nazi and sounds like a Nazi....maybe you got a jackboot problem. Least that's how people are treating this issue it seems.

But if media can't blame the liberals for any issue, who can they blame? The conservatives? Not according to their owners, no siree, not this conservative mouthpiece.

I had to check Google maps to make sure but the next closest city appears to be about 300kms south (Athabasca, unless Lac La Biche is closer), even with public transit they aren't getting anywhere else. There's nothing in so much of Northern Canada you're screwed for mobility without a vehicle.

That was one of my thoughts, the amount of social data he could get from Starfleet Academy would be huge. Its not like he needed to study the material. I guess there's an argument that Data was only as social as he was because of the academy. Or maybe the computation needed to make the officer decisions are much more intensive than we think, contrary to what Lower Decks shows heh, kidding I love that show.

In Canada ours have a sticker that says the amounts are calibrated to a certain temperature (15C I think), so I assumed it took that into account. I try not to think about how much it costs so didn't over analyze it.

Pierre Poilievre Wants a Carbon Tax Election | The Walrus ( thewalrus.ca )

REMEMBER BREXIT? That time a Conservative Party directed widespread voter frustration at a single easy scapegoat, smothered the public with misinformation, and were rewarded with their biggest electoral victory in decades? Something similar is happening today in Canada....

Yet I imagine the Kelowna area will still vote for a Conservative to be our representative next election, so many people with money and other conservative types in the area. I was constantly checking updates as one of the fires were within like 1-2 km, it was very stressful and I wasn't ever in an evacuation zone. Had everything ready just in case we had to go right away. Granted there was many buildings between me and the fire but it hit pretty fast, so I may have been overreacting but I'd rather be prepared than caught off guard. Will definitely vote for people that want to curb our environmental impact myself but feels like pissing in the wind when looking at vote counts after the election.
