I'd like to give it a try, but unfortunately it looks like it requires the electronic arts app, which I refuse to install.

T1 May Take This Year's Title of Best All-Around E-Bike With Its All-Road Design and Speed ( www.autoevolution.com )

This e-bike is rocking a 350 W motor, can hit a top speed of 25 mph and even carry up to a total load of 330 lbs: it costs just $1,800 and weighs 36 lbs

I'm back into Shattered Pixel Dungeon. It's whipping my ass.

I'm actually impressed. I used to use animation: master back in the day when Jeff was creating the original videos.

To see it moved to a technically challenging (to create) game of this standard, is a HUGE amount of work. Well done. Can wait to play it

That pretty much exactly matches my timeline of my last purchase. I had no idea they were purchased and they did turn to shit and now I can see why.

I'd say this is the perfect time to start a really regular and dedicated games review site. They have to start somewhere and if you're trusted and good then you'll get a following.

They’re fast. Pedestrians are furious: ‘fat’ ebikes divide Australian beach suburbs ( www.theguardian.com )

Popular among teenagers, the large electric bikes have triggered ‘numerous complaints’ to councils as fears grow for the safety of riders and pedestrians

I've been a kid. I've got two kids. It's not that kids are dumb, it's just that they think they know everything.

The issue will be figuring out how to get young people to ride responsibly. Something the world has struggled with for years.

I can't personally see a solution, except something draconian like banning anyone who doesn't have a motorcycle licence from having them.

makingStuffForFun ,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

Of course. But, even there you see the kids doing the wrong thing. Because they're kids. It's not their fault, it's just they're not emotionally, nor intellectually mature enough.

makingStuffForFun ,

Yet, they are licensed and importantly insured.

But will cover the medical costs. It's not pretty, but, it does what it's meant to do.

A bike at 40km/h could definitely kill someone. It could also make them disabled for life.

At least insurance will help with bills.

I've lived in Brisbane. The humidity in summer is insanity levels. I feel people miss this crucial aspect, when talking about cities in areas as humid, and hot as Brisbane.

makingStuffForFun ,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

I do get your point. And, I love my bike. I've ridden EVERY street in my town. Every.

But, reality is reality. Ib remember a Brisbane summer that was so humid I decided to get to work REALLY early, so I could beat the heat. 7:30am walking from the bus stop to the office. About 1km walk. By the time I got there my shirt was stuck to me.

Now, that's a hot year, and it's not always that bad, but it shows how serious the heat can be there.

eBikes are a godsend for that kind of heat. But, they're not cheap. People are financially stressed, and already have cars.

It's a hard sell.

I know a guy that sold his studio to Microsoft personally. He's been living a very nice life now, quite a long time after the sale.

He took the gamble. Made the risks. Exposed himself financially. It paid off.

Like any small business, you hope for a payout. Most won't get one, so you take it when it comes.

Incredibly dark. That's a harrowing read. Why do UK citizens allow this? I had always seen them as a mix of 'ard' and 'smart as hell'. But this. This just shames them.

So far we've been lucky. But, we are concerned with some of our stack. We help where we can, but it's a bit of an unknown. The google graveyard basically screams to keep away from any of their tech.

I'm also interested, so I hope you don't mind me joining the ride. Personally, I'd like a self hosted tool, but am happy to see what the community says.

makingStuffForFun ,

Well that was apple's exact argument when they would not release phone cpu specs back in the day. "It's not relevant" they would say, as the whole experience is faster. It's really just whatever suites their marketing people. Slowed down your phones, oh, we got caught. But, it's a FEATURE, and so we don't get dragged through lawsuites, we're adding it as an OPTION. Look, the M4 looks great. But any spin they put on anything, I just take it with a grain of salt.

looking forward to linux being able to run hard and solid on them

makingStuffForFun OP ,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

Thank you for that link. I guess my concern here is in the same way that N8N charges and changes what it charges for, this tool might end up in a cycle where it clamps down on what you can and can't do and I end up heavily restricted. This is what is happening with N8N, so I am a little bit concerned about tools like this.

makingStuffForFun OP ,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

That seems to be the consensus, I will definitely try it out. Thank you

makingStuffForFun OP ,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

Thank you for the recommendation, I will have a look at it as it seems to be the most likely option.

makingStuffForFun OP ,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

For now, but the writing on the wall in the forums is that the self hosted version will also have a reduction of capabilities in time. The owner has posted in a forum thread that he doesn't feel that just because you self host that you should also get it completely unrestricted. And that is fine, it is their own commercial system, but I am looking for something that does not impose restrictions. I am happy to pay, but the rates they are wanting are above my capabilities for what I am using it for.

makingStuffForFun ,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

Absolutely fascinating. I had no idea this exists and particularly that it has been updated all this time.

makingStuffForFun ,

N8N is great and just keeps getting better. I can only hope enshitification doesn't ensue as it gains popularity

makingStuffForFun ,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

I have about 12. Anything from checking emails for something I'm expecting and telegram messaging me. Scraping game websites for deals. Auto responder emails when I'm away. Just day to day stuff to automate. But, they've restricted their cloud version and are allowing self hosted a good run still. But, I suspect they'll want more money and chase the wrong people. Self hosters.

makingStuffForFun ,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

I agree. It's great software. But a home user simply can't justify that price

makingStuffForFun ,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

The forums seem to indicate self hosters are going to be screwed in time. Fingers crossed it's not true

It depends on what kind of rider you are and how far you want to go, but more importantly how fast you want to accelerate and how fast you want to go at top speed.

I was in Germany recently on the autobahn and I noticed just so very many Teslas sitting in the middle lane while we overtook them for miles and miles I just kept seeing them.

I asked my brother in law how come these Teslas are being overtaken by us in our turbo diesel when they are so fast and he said to me that it is because their range is so limited that although they can go fast they have to sit in that middle lane, and can't use their capabilities, otherwise they will run out of power, and won't be able to get to their destination.

So the same thing will apply to these motorcycles. If you're a kind of guy that wants to do 300 or 400 kilometres in a day around mountain ranges and really giving it some then an electric bike is not going to be for you.

makingStuffForFun ,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

I guess I wasn't really discussing the economical or environmental benefits or negatives of either of the types of vehicles. I was more describing that somebody who likes to ride, and ride hard, will probably not want one as it won't have the range that they require under load. Exactly as my experience seeing the Teslas sitting in the slow lane in Germany demonstrate.

@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

Got you. No problem

makingStuffForFun ,

I can imagine. We were doing between about 160 to 240 over a few hours. That's a lot of energy to burn.

makingStuffForFun ,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

Haha. I get it. It's a company car though. As many are. The corporation pays the fuel bill. So the vehicle has to be able to perform like that for many, many km. And it does. There will be a change coming for sure, but right now, the EV just can't do it.

makingStuffForFun ,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

I finally watched it. I left. Was probably best watched in its day.
