I think it's fair enough. If they accept your spam then they have to accept everyone else's spam too. No it doesn't make any difference that your stuff is free. Reddit subs are usually for discussion not marketing; there are channels to spunk your adverts down and you should use those instead of trying to insert them into discussions. No it doesn't make any difference that your free stuff means you don't have a marketing budget. We all know today's free stuff is tomorrow's subscription stuff, and yeah I can already see you're about to scream at me that you don't ever intend for that to happen. But the simple fact is if your stuff takes off then you're going to have to make more time for it but free stuff isn't going to pay your bills and you're going to have to start raising cash one way or another.

What you should be doing is to continue being a positive contributor, and put your promo stuff on your "about me" page. Anyone who is interested enough in you will look at your profile, see your stuff and maybe then consider engaging with your products.

Forget the 10% ratio, remember the rule NO MARKETING, and then everyone will be your friend again. The 10% rule is not intended to say "you can spam this much and no more", it's to allow people to talk about actual products they like (that others have made) and point to them without those pointers being misconstrued as promotion.

"...votes..." No, the rules are for preventing spam, the voting is to highlight high quality posts over the low quality stuff.

"...billionaires..." What an odd strawman. Business of all sizes from freebie shops like yours up to Microsoft are NOT ALLOWED TO SPAM chatrooms. You're likely to see more stuff about billionaire businesses simply because they're bigger, not because they have some privilege you don't.

I mean come on, there are enough fucking adverts everywhere without discussion groups being full of that shite too. Advertise in advert channels. Chat in chat channels. Don't mix the two. Non-Yank here. Enjoyed and still do TDOH. Names like "General Lee" and "Jefferson Davis Hogg" are meaningless to me, except as they appeared in the show, and the car could equally have been called Lieutenant Bob or Sergeant Pete. The flag on top of the car was just a fancy design.

That's actually quite an interesting approach and I wonder what the limits of implications are.

Could we for example imply that Bo and Luke are not only shagging Daisy and each other, but in addition have raped and/or murdered numerous other people? Could we imply they've lynched anyone? If we can, what else could we infer? If not, why not? What limit did we exceed?

Or could we go the other way and imply that they do lots of anti-racism stuff offscreen and that they're using Confederate symbology and names not to glorify it but to mock it? And that they are therefore non-racist and (with additional implications) non-incestuous?

Since one aspect of racism is ascribing negative traits to a particular people group regardless of any evidence that those traits are true (like for example the English thinking of Irish people as stupid, although for the most part I don't think we do that any more), could ascribing incest and racism to citizens of southern states in itself be racist?

Those two vehicles are different. The one behind carries more people, can tow greater weight and with the right tyres probably has better capabilities off-road and in poor weather (floods and snow, for example). If the owner only needed it for the boot space then they'd be daft to get the bigger one (and probably wouldn't, due to fuel efficiency) but how does anyone here know what the owners need them for? Judging by looks is rather passé these days isn't it?

That's not a real operator. You've put a space in "i--" and removed the space in "-- >". The statement is "while i-- is greater than zero". Inventing an unnecessary "goes to" operator just confuses beginners and adds something else to think about while debugging.

And yes I have seen beginners try to use <-- and --<. Just stop it.

But the fundamental problem with your plan, assuming it's possible at all - it's been said that if the brain were simple enough for us to understand then we'd be too simple to understand it - is that you're going to want to make your AI at least as smart as someone who's 30-40 years old, which by definition would take 30-40 years.

I'm UK too. As I see it your options are one or more of:

  1. ignore the incident without comment and don't give him the satisfaction of upsetting you;

  2. block him so he can't do it again. If he needs your number for other reasons then he gave up that right when he sent you that disgusting stuff; now he needs other routes, which you can block as needed;

  3. raise the issue with your team leader or manager advising that you just want it to stop, you don't want disciplinary action taken against him, but if he's a repeat offender then the company might take it further anyway (which would be appropriate and correct);

  4. DO NOT go to HR. They are not your friend or ally. They are there to protect the company and it's just as likely you'll be terminated as him. HR is a last resort, if you can't get any satisfaction from management, and you keep suffering this kind of abuse (because that's what it is; I'm not exaggerating), only then go to HR and even then only after notifying everyone concerned - the bully/bullies and your manager - that's what you're going to do.

If this cockwomble gets fired because of sending that video to you, you have nothing to be ashamed of. It's his own stupidity that got him there, not you "grassing him up" or whatever other cockney nonsense you might have knocking around inside your noggin. You don't owe that wanknugget anything, especially after he sent you stuff you explicitly said you didn't want to see.

It's not really a choice. If you don't want to be on the streets then you have two options: buy or rent. (There is a third: squatting, but that has its own downsides.) Presumably riodoro1 can't buy (or has chosen not to for some other reason) and doesn't want to be homeless or a squatter.
