iPad Pro with M4 chip boasts impressive performance jump compared to just-released M3 MacBook Air ( 9to5mac.com )

On raw performance might, the M4 really does live up to Apple’s promises, should deliver. Single core is up about 20% compared to all M3 chips and more than 40% compared to M2. The generational computational leap from the previous M2 iPad Pro is at least a 42% jump on single-core and multi-core.

Perhaps with a more robust OS, such as Linux or macOS the battery and thermals would just not suffice?

I mean, an iPad is basically a larger phone, which I think can get hot enough if pushing it to its limit

Also I don't think the RAM would be enough for intensive tasks, the device as it is could be pretty good for gaming though, if only the title list wouldn't be a shit for the most part.

But at the same time, a MacBook Air doesn't seem much bigger compared to the biggest iPad available.

Always has been.

Did Siri be good at any moment though?

I remember it sucked since its conception and in the most recent iOS versions too.

kratoz29 ,

This makes sense, now that I think about it, there used to be a tweak that mimics Siri for devices that didn't support it, it was called Sara lol.

And yeah Siri was better but still Sara shipped some interesting ideas like keyboard support, like any ideas that Apple took from old tweaks.

where do people with pirated copies of games meet to play online together ?

I recently got into fighting games (like: kof - street fighters - Mortal Kombat - Guilty Gear...etc). Now you can pirate the game, and you can play it online with someone if the two of you agree on using same pirated copy and Hamachi for example, but where do you meet these people to play with? are there dedicated forums for...

kratoz29 ,

But if you can arrange play sessions with acquaintances, it would be fine wouldn't it?

kratoz29 ,

What is that Hulu you are talking about, we never got that in Mexico (nor Pandora now that I am talking about it).

In this day and age where everyone wants its piece of the cake it is weird to me that they never cared about more countries xd.

kratoz29 ,

I'd use Thunder more if they had mark as read while scroll, and hide read posts (I think they already have the later) if these requests are outdated please lemme know.

I think the handheld era is my favorite, it basically ended with the 3DS, but it is the DS which I really can't put down, I am playing for the first time Chrono Trigger on it, and it is my Jump Ultimate Stars machine (Wimmfi), also have some other bangers as well, but I'll bore you if I citate them all.

But hey, don't get me wrong, the current handheld era is good too, we have the Switch, The Steam Deck and a plethora of good quality Chinese handhelds.

kratoz29 ,

Is there any tool like this for macOS?

kratoz29 ,

Ok, this summary won't be useful in this article 😂

kratoz29 ,

Stremio/Kodi + a debrid service or your HDDs carefully crafted with content though Arr services and with Plex/Jellyfin, or both.

That setup will be infinitely better than any streaming service.

kratoz29 ,

What is your setup? It works perfectly fine for me with Android mobile, Android TV (Shield TV Pro) and macOS.

kratoz29 ,

The only way I can conceive this is useful is for OSTs and such.

Google Search is getting even worse for independent sites ( www.theverge.com )

In February, HouseFresh managing editor Gisele Navarro called out publishers like BuzzFeed and Rolling Stone as some of the culprits that publish content about air purifiers despite a lack of expertise — but Google rewards these sites with high rankings all the same. The result is a search results page filled with SEO-first...

Same bro, same, for simple shit I usually end up using Perplexity to avoid the garbage articles.

kratoz29 ,

To my natal country México huh? You Google like cheap man-power don't you?

kratoz29 ,

It is a secret /s

kratoz29 ,

I mean, you chose to have them on someone else's computer, your butthole was never safe.

I never understood the attraction of twitter, so mastodon doesn't appeal to me either.

I won't try to convince you, but I am exactly like you, I still use Twitter from time to time (although not as Elon wants, I use this version) anyway, still just use it from time to time, but I gave it a chance to Mastodon (Moshidon and Megalodon clients) and I really liked to follow hashtags, I think I find more interesting content that way compared to whatever Twitter algorithm wants to show me, with that said it is not perfect, but it is definitely an improvement because, not everyone is advertising themselves there, so you pretty much need to work your way to curate your stuff (which as I have said, found it better) and it is not very different than following communities here, I dislike that even when I have filtered out languages many foreign languages still leak in the posts (something that I have not suffered here).

And even when both Mastodon and Lemmy are a shadow compared to Twitter and Reddit I still find more "niche" stuff in Mastodon than Lemmy, for example I have had some talks about Hotel Dusk and The Last Window (DS games) there and I don't recall having that interaction here, but that could just be because Mastodon might be more popular and has a higher user base (just as the corporation ones are).

kratoz29 ,

What a shame, well the last piracy ban was what motivated me to join lemm.ee, no regrets at all, better uptimes, quicker updates and no censorship.

kratoz29 ,

Oh god, I was actually hoping that blank space was not an ad :/

kratoz29 ,

Don't worry, some hero without a cape will appear for you and seed that bitch! (wait, that sound better in my head).

kratoz29 OP ,

They are my mods, they should do as I command

I feel like the Steam Deck is the best proof of Gabe Newell's quote that "piracy is a service issue."

They could have easily crammed the Steam Deck full of stuff to make it hard to use for piracy - locking down everything, making it usable only to play games you legitimately own, force you to go through who knows what hoops in order to play games on it. That's what Nintendo or Apple or most other companies do....

kratoz29 ,

For non steam games I use syncthing but that always requires just a little bit of work.

Can you use this feature with games added as a shortcut (bought from other means).

I’m guessing the answer is no?

kratoz29 ,

Pretty neat workaround!

kratoz29 OP ,

Yeah, I agree with you completely, indeed I just posted this as in a meme manner.

I love FKM and I paid for it even when it was clear the app wasn't going to be updated that much, I usually don't feel any kind of remorse while pirating, but now this is justified and that is good too.

Regardless this is a good reminder that this can happen anytime with any app or service, being a good or a bad one, having nice or asshole devs/teams behind, and for that piracy will always be a handy solution, I just wish that abandoned apps could somehow being open sourced automatically, but that is a dream.

kratoz29 OP ,

Yeah, I agree, gladly the app is back in the store... And it even got a very much needed update!
