I got 30hrs out of Animal Well and enjoyed every moment of it :)

Created by Peter Luisi, the movie has been marketed as the "first feature film written entirely by AI".

It follows a celebrated screenwriter called Jack who finds his world shaken when he encounters a cutting-edge AI scriptwriting system.

After initially being sceptical, Jack realises the AI matches his skills and surpasses his empathy and understanding of human emotions.

This sounds like the dumbest movie ever written, by AI or otherwise.

HTC U24 series with Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 coming on June 12 ( www.fonearena.com )

The HTC phone model number 2QDA100 recently surfaced in Geekbench listing, revealing Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, 12GB of RAM and Android 14. It also showed up in the Google Play Console database that revealed FHD+ (1080 × 2436 pixels) along with other details that were already revealed in the benchmark listing.

I doubt it'll have the "Edge sense" (squeeze for actions) feature, but I gotta say, for my U11+ it was a game changer and I miss it

Yeah, my Loblaws boycott is about three months old, but I've been boycotting Walmart for 20+ years

Nerds still are smarter than us.

Unfortunately a cult of managers has arisen to rule over the nerds and they hype with an iron fist.

kat_angstrom ,

As usual with headlines involving either AI or Adobe,

Meh

I hate how this is phrased as "redundancies". IGN literally JUST bought these outlets, they haven't had time to dig into and examine the organizations they acquired; it's just straight into the Corpo playbook of "lay people off and let the dust settle where it may".

These are people, not "redundancies". They contributed in the old organization, and they could contribute in the new, but they never even got the chance.

kat_angstrom ,

Oh, just what Loblaws needs right now, more good press

I am a former immigration minister. Unsustainable population increases won't solve Canada's underlying issues - The Hub ( thehub.ca )

The bottom line is that immigrants, students, and workers chose Canada over centuries because we sustained high levels of growth and high standards of living. Canada’s declining affluence over the past decade undermines this pull factor.

"The greatest overriding challenge Canada now faces is that for ten years incomes have stagnated.”

Yeah, try 40 years actually.

kat_angstrom ,

Yeah, this has definitely happened before, we just don't hear about it in the news. I am personally aware of a Canadian non-profit whose Google accounts were nuked with no notice or explanation last year, leading to massive disruptions for 150 staff and even more clients. They never found out why, and had to restore from backups onto a brand new Google business account

This helps nobody, and whoever thinks it's a good idea needs better time management skills.

kat_angstrom ,

Most of the VPs in my local Corpo are all politicians. They speak in buzzwords and value hearing themselves speak over hearing any feedback from people lower than them in the hierarchy. The disconnection between upper management and everyone else is greater than it's ever been and it's only getting worse.

kat_angstrom ,

Isn't there literally a movie about this, that she's stolen the plot of?

kat_angstrom ,

If it's like a lot of other tech companies, likely this was posted in a questions thread during a large meeting, and while everyone can see the questions being posed, Execs pick and choose which questions they're interested in answering, ignoring the ones they don't like. It's a good way of determining employee morale while avoiding all accountability.

"The numbers are one thing, right, but ... the government's approach here is their briefing essentially says there's nothing wrong. I get there's posturing, but this is actually quite dangerous posturing on the side of the government."

kat_angstrom ,

Before the bread price fixing scandal broke, if anyone had asked Galen if they were manipulating the price of bread, he would have shown this same level of deflection and never admitted in a million years what they were doing. If we asked now if there were any other price fixing scandals waiting to be discovered, they'd deny and deflect regardless of the truth.

Now he just wants us to trust him, and take him at his word? This billionaire has given everyone zero reasons to trust him, and many reasons to do the opposite.

kat_angstrom ,

Absolutely hitting the nail on the head. This is something that isn't being properly discussed anywhere in society; how many billions does a billionaire need before a billionaire has enough billions?

If enough is never enough, then that's not sustainable, it's not healthy for our civilization, and they're absolutely suffering from a form of mental illness that requires social intervention. If a trillion is the number before they'll actually be satisfied; then they need to adjust their goals.

Dare I say it: as long as there are camps full of homeless, as long as people working 60+ hours a week and can't afford both food and a place to live, as long as 50% of the population is one missed paycheck from going broke- there should be no billionaires.

Our economy is dysfunctional and serving the interests of the rich above everyone else. We need an adjustment before the tipping point tips us from untenable into chaos, because these current trends are leading us all into ruin.

kat_angstrom ,

That's some hostile workplace kind of BS, and shouldn't be tolerated. Document everything, names, dates, info etc.

kat_angstrom ,

I've never heard of anyone screaming because they had to scan their own groceries at a self-checkout. Is this a common thing?
