Hi! I’m currently using navidrome, but eventually I will probably need support for multiple users (each user has access to different music or the same music) which isn’t supported in navidrome right now. I don’t really want to run two containers of the same thing if I can avoid it. Thanks
Actually... you're f right. Why do I create problems for myself, just add everything to one pot and let users fav/star the ones they want and use the "Favourites" folders. Thanks
LOTR = anything from 4K HDR 7.1 Atmos, down to DVD is available (theoretically, as you can have items that exists, but can’t be fully downloaded so don’t work, because of DMCA and other things). The oldest release I see is 5800 days old and the newest is 4 days old. So people keep reuploading stuff if it’s popular enough. (I still can’t find some episodes of Ben 10 tv show lol)
Apple's long-rumoured foldable iPhone could finally become a reality if a recently awarded patent is any indication. This patent hints at a revolutionary self-healing screen.
I’ve read through the above Samsung patent and the Apples one. The one main difference I found was that Apple is talking about a heating layer between the other layer in the display that can initiate the selfhealing process (which could be initiated by the user, on schedule, or while charging the battery). I haven’t see a mention of such thing in the Samsung patent. Plus, Apples patent doesn’t seem to go into detail regarding the materials of the layer, only that it can be made out of „suitable materials”.
It feels like… „selfhealing? I heard that before. Apple? Ah yes, don’t like. Apple does nothing new and here is a patent that has the word selfhealing in it too”
Sabnzbd is free, you can install anywhere basically. The rest is not free unfortunately, someone has to host the files, as there are no peers in usenet. I think some, if not all, providers and indexers can be paid with crypto or even mailing them the money by post.
Provider is €50 a year. Indexers are around €10 a year, but there are lifetime subscriptions for some.
In return, you don’t need a VPN, download speeds are stable and there is no seeding.
Out of 220 files downloaded, I only needed torrents 12 times, rest is usenet.
Read up on benefits of one over the other before switching :)
I've been a good boy for 5 years or so but the seas call to me. Are streaming sites the way to go now or is torrenting still a better bet for mainstream movies and tv? I'd imagine all of my accounts have been deleted on those sites so I'd be starting over.
I've been interested in self-hosting for a while, but didn't really know where to start. I've never messed with Linux before and wanted to jump ship from Windows since Microsoft decided to start putting ads everywhere....
This is what I personally used to start this journey. Remember you don’t have to go all the way with Traefik and all if you don’t need to access things from outside home. If you do, do it with a VPN instead of a domain
Even if it has only 1% chance of working, I’m willing to spend 20 seconds putting my name and postcode on a website. I won’t die from typing 20 characters on a keyboard
The game now requires an always-online connection, even if you play offline. Just tried it myself by setting Steam to offline mode and you can never 'Ready Up' into a map. This was not the case before the Epic Games Store integration they did awhile ago....
I've tried installing it about a dozen times over the past year, but it always gives an "unable to get image" error. So I'm wondering if there's an alternative that does everything paperless does...but lets me use it
Sure I’ll help you out best I can. First, I assume you’re on Linux and know docker a bit. I don’t know you so just trying to see what we’re working with here :)
Yeah, Ubuntu is fine, I run Ubuntu myself. From my experience, this is one of the painful containers to set up haha But okay let's roll with it. Personally, I did it with the "From GHCR/Docker Hub" option, and it took some tweaking. If you tried this option, where did you stop and what error did you get? Or do you want me to go step by step?
PS. For a more complete guide on homeserver, docker and stuff I recommend Smart Home Beginner. That's where I learned. You don't need his "Auto Traefik" stuff tho, so just ignore it
First see if you can ping the docker host to see if that’s reachable at all. Check what IP the ubuntu machine has and try and ping it from Win10. If we can do that we’ll troubleshoot further
Oh no problem. Glad I could… help? Haha If you still want to explore this, buying a cheap NUC from eBay could work. I bought one for £50 and it worked fine, as long as I didn’t have to transcode jellyfin lol
Currently I'm using Joplin with Syncthing-backed file system synchronization. I'm pretty pleased with it, as I do like tagging- and Markdown-based systems....
Joplin. Obsidian is not open source, doesn’t have native self hosting and it gets complicated. Joplin is very simple and just works. Although, it stores the notes in a hashed database, so you can’t edit raw files without Joplin client

Replace Torrenting with Usenet
Hi,...
streaming or torrenting today vs. 5 years ago
