I’m gonna buy enough baggy pants while they’re available to survive the next skinny cycle

iarigby , to Ask Lemmy in Lemons(?) of Lemmy, what is something that feels so obvious to you that you just get lowkey pissed at the world for not knowing?

and that kind of driving affects not just brakes, but gas, engine wear, etc. not to say how horrible the whole experience of being bumped back and forth is. it’s SO simple and really reflects how careless and ignorant people choose to be about almost everything, and then that makes me really irritated

iarigby , to No Stupid Questions in Why does it feel like too much effort just to go from sitting around looking at garbage online to simply watching a film or playing a video game?

Then there are also people who drink or used to drink a lot or use lots of recreational drugs in higher than safe doses and call it adhd when they experience memory or attention problems…
When I finally admitted I needed help, it was after years of positive lifestyle changes not having any effect. That’s very bad too because I pretty much tortured myself for too long, most of my potential went down the drain and I became a person who pretty much no longer trusts themselves and is always scared of pursuing opportunities because of inevitable spiraling into dysfunction.
That scenario is something nobody should end up in and people need to feel supported to seek help to minimize such damage, but those making zero effort and completely jumping over so many first steps in helping the typical and very common symptoms is really irresponsible. Having people claim to have adhd just because they have memory problems, or attention problems from spending unrestricted and unmonitored amount on apps designed to break the brain, or a textbook burnout… It’s not just insensitive to those who are suffering from the disability, it is also detrimental to give amphetamines to a body that needs care, rest, or exercise.

iarigby , to Ukraine in Russian woman traveling to the US through Mexico complains that everyone hates Russians.

There are issues that Russia has right now, and then there is a national identity that they have had for decades and centuries. You seem to not be educated about the latter part. The misinformation is effective and bloodshed in Ukraine is supported because the content and aim resonates with the population. Putin did not have to convince anyone there that Ukrainians (and other neighbor countries) don’t have the right to exist as an independent nation. Even the most popular opposition leader Navalnyi had some horrifying imperialistic quotes, he fully supported the war in Georgia, the thing he was opposing to was corruption, not occupation. And knowing these important details is crucial for understanding just how much of the responsibility for the war falls on the nation and not just Putin.

iarigby , to Ukraine in Russian woman traveling to the US through Mexico complains that everyone hates Russians.

itt: a bunch of people spoiled by the fortune of not meeting enough actual Russians. They are overwhelmingly supportive of the war as it is fully aligned with the nation’s imperialistic identity, one that existed long before Putin was even born. Russia has amazing, brilliant, heroic opposition activists which are a slim minority, I’ve been told less than 1%. The rest are mostly like this woman (or worse)

iarigby , to World News in Georgia: Thousands rally in protest at 'foreign influence' bill

Thousands? This is absolutely insulting, the estimations start at hundred and fifty thousand. Absolutely historic turnout, the march closed down several main avenues*. And the cover photos are shit, they don’t show how massive the crowd was
