I have 7 instances blocked. I'm really glad that you can block instances while not blocking the users of those instances. Like I don't want to see any posts from yiffit but being a furry doesn't mean your comments aren't worth reading, ya know?

The other blocked instances are porn and language-specific instances just to clean up my feed

Oh yeah, I didn't think about the Linux communities...I do have a lot of those distro-specific ones blocked. And a bunch of communities for software I don't use

Oh man I totally agree about the repeating themes. That's true even on the non-porn communities...especially during the gold rush to copy every single subreddit but none of the rules that made them unique

I don't really use Lemmy for porn but I don't mind seeing it since I have NSFW posts blurred. Aside from sexuality/kinks I'm not into, I block a lot of communities with users that post like 20 things at once.

I added that one fast for the same reason. I am not an anime-hater but there's way too much horny anime getting posted for my liking. Too many -chan characters that look basically identical middle schoolers.

I've been anti-jihadist since 2001 and anti-Hamas since I learned about them a few years ago so we have something in common.

However I've also been anti-Israeli government since I learned of their persistent oppression of the Palestinian people around the same time.

Please don't conflate my opposition of one government with the support of another. And don't confuse my hatred of a country's government with a hatred of its citizens - I am not anti-Israeli.

I have a beard because....I like it. It's for me. I was clean shaven for a year for a job and hated it so much I quit.

  1. It made me look 10 years younger and I'd prefer to look my age

  2. Shaving is annoying. Occasional razor burn and cuts aside, it's an "all or nothing" style. If you miss a spot, it sticks out against the smooth skin

  3. Having to do it daily sucks especially for people like me who get 10am shadows. Post-shave stubble looks bad. Post-#1 trimmer stubble looks the same

  4. It's relaxing to scratch a beard and it doesn't feel good to scratch a freshly-shaven face.

I trim my beard once a week and I can do it half asleep. it stays relatively nice and if I miss a spot, it mostly blends in. Sometimes during the week I will trim the couple of hairs that grow a little higher on my cheeks but even if I don't, it doesn't look too bad.

I'm not sure if this counts as a "patient gamer" because I played them to death years ago...but I've been playing both again recently and they're just perfect little games with a ton of replayability. They're not retro (FTL 2012, ITB 2018) but they're old enough to regularly go on sale which is great!...

I always thought that anorexia was a female problem, something affecting young women manipulated by media and peers, even bullied, to become closest to what men want in a woman or what a successful woman is supposed to look like: tall and thin. This would be a social cause....
