In binary, when you add one more numeric place, things double. Not doubling would be like having two digit decimal numbers but only allowing people to count to 50.

Python is not found, so $ARCH gets assigned to "", and you didn't double quote your variables in the comparison, so the code parses as [ == "aarch64" which is a syntax error.

Also, maybe uname -m could work instead of that Python script.

I have been using ubiquiti for years, and I would strongly caution against using them. They are forcing some devices to sign on to ubiquity cloud and synchronize with their cloud services, and are forcing those sign ins to use MFA. I really miss the ubiquity from 2020, where it was all local. Next time I upgrade my gear, I will probably not buy an ubiquiti router/gateway.

Also the upgrade process from Usg to dream router was awful. Also they don't let you run unifi in docker with a dream router, you are forced to run it on-device.

Not me. I think popular implementations of social media are, but they don't need to be.

Also the internet is definitely not toxic because it's basically a set of protocols that can be used for innumerable things that aren't social at all. For example: the experience of using ftp to transfer a file has never been toxic.

My go to for home servers for like 20 years has been used dell optiplexes. They are quite reliable, easy to find, pretty cheap, come in a few different standard physical sizes, and last a long time. The one thing they could do better at is energy efficiency. I spent a total of US $450 on the last two that I bought. I added an LSI HBA to one and it runs 4 HDDs in raidz1.

Were you able to run headless without installing snapd? I tried and tried, but there was some shared library dependency that always led to me having snapd installed, and after fighting with it repeatedly I found it easier to switch to Debian.

It's really disappointing that snapd has even infected headless installs. I loved Ubuntu on headless, and I still use it as a docker base image.

I live in rural suburbia and after buying an ebike I almost never drive. That'll change when winter comes. For now, everything I do often that doesn't require taking the kids with me, I take the bike. Liquor store, cafe, corner store, park, pleasure ride, picking up a burger or sandwich but not a pizza, exploring, all better on a bike. Better fitness, more enjoyment, and cheaper.

zfs is made for data integrity. I wouldn't use anything else for my backups. If a file is corrupted, it will tell you which file when it encounters a checksum error while reading the file.

If there is a redundant block then it will auto recover and just report what happened. Redundancy can be set up with multiple disks or by having a single disk write blocks to multiple places by setting the "copies" property to more than 1.

You can get an unencrypted hdmi out by using a splitter. I do this to record video with camlink. This is the splitter I use between a dedicated device like a firetv and the camlink: https://a.co/d/clpveZh

As if people know what the obscure thing is but don't know that a sub titled after it is going to be related to it. 🙄

I had an office with a few of these canvas triangles high up above us below a bunch of high windows and it was beautiful! The way the window shadows hit the canvas and the way they shaded each other made beautiful diffused light and interesting shadow shapes.

If somebody had put vegetation on them the whole experience would've been worse.
