EA has tried this before, with predictable results. In 2020, EA Sports UFC 4 included full-screen ads for the Amazon Prime series The Boys that would appear during 'Replay' moments. These were absent from the game when it launched, with EA introducing the ads about a month later, thereby preventing them from being highlighted in...

If a French-speaking person gives you shit for pronouncing words in French wrong, dare them to say "LinkedIn" in the presence of your English-speaking fluency and try to not humiliate themselves. Maybe first bait then with one they can do, like "Facebook" before crushing their spirits.
Like we could get mean with "squirrel" or "thorough" or "hedgehog", but those are less reasonable that they'd have fucking consistent practice with.
Yeah my point here is rooted in living amongst French speakers who will correct an American or British pronunciation of a word like croissant. And those same folks cannot pronounce "LinkedIn" even though it's far more pervasive in their vernacular than croissant is in ours.
They (selfishly) believe that allowing the problem to flourish is what will get us to solve it.
They're not wrong. There's just way better, more humane approaches.
So you're mostly right. Because they know they have the wealth to weather the discomfort in comfort. But it is accurate that humans historically are fucking aces at reacting and kinda piss poor at proacting.

Seen a lot of posts on Lemmy with vegan-adjacent sentiments but the comments are typically very critical of vegan ideas, even when they don't come from vegans themselves. Why is this topic in particular so polarising on the internet? Especially since unlike politics for example, it seems like people don't really get upset by it...
It's simple: if you don't shove your ways in other people's faces, it's fine. If you do, it's not.
I don't care if you're vegan, but if you throw a BBQ and man the grill but don't cook any meat because it's not what you want, you're inviting criticism.
This seems to be something people don't always give second thought to. When people talk about the homeless, the first things thought about are images of people on busy city streets in rusty clothes waiting around near allies. In there, the answer is quite static, because it can be I guess. But if that's the case, change the...

I got a kind of funny story with regards to these..
My girlfriend's Brother's family are nudists. Well, casually. Among their family is a teenaged boy. He got targeted by some bad people on the internet who did not know about their family being nudists, and tried to extort him after getting him to send them naked photos.
Kid just laughed it off and told them he didn't care. Told his parents. They reported it. All done.
Having once been a teenager, and seeing how damaging these campaigns have been towards young kids, respect to that whole family and that kid. 👊
There's a dead horse pinned beneath a flaming tree on a wet ground. Occam's razor would tell us the tree fell on the horse after it was struck by lightning.
An eccentric explanation would be that the horse was cold so it went to the store to buy a lighter and a tank of gas, lit the tree on fire. The fire scared the horse so it dumped buckets of water in the tree, but it was too late. The flames caused it to fall on the horse, which killed it.
Do you see why there is no such thing of an eccentric example of Occam's razor? Occam's razor is the idea that least eccentric explanation is what probably happened.
I have been exploring the world of home servers/self-hosting for a little over a year now, and feel like I have at a decent understanding of a lot of things that go into this. The one thing I am not remotely comfortable with yet is networking. It's like a foreign language to me....
If you want dry and boring, do CompTIA and Cisco certs.
If you want fun, get into info sec and learn that way. Check out OWASP, Hackerone, Hack The Box, et al. These platforms will teach you about networking and security at the same time.
Neither is better. Depends on the person.
I recommend getting a VPS and playing around with all kinds of networking tools.

I was talking about hygiene with my partner who is a nurse and they were telling me that a lot of people remark that their armpits are smelling worse than normal and they are using more and more deodorant and people just think it is normal....
Yo that's funny. Maybe twice in my 20s I had a bout where I was like "damn my pits stank"
I basically unscientifically concluded that I had soaked my armpit hair in smelly armpit sweat, and every time e the armpit hair got sweaty it was releasing a stale stench. Like the hairs themselves were the problem, I figured.
So I trimmed my armpit hair.
Problem solved, both times.
Then in my 30s, a bandmate was like "yo my armpits stank" and I was like "homie it sounds odd but just trim your pits." Worked for him too.
So, my unscientific alternative, faster solution is to just shave your pits.
