Can someone help me understand how this would be considered efficient if the closer to the speed of light that you get, the slower time moves for those at that speed? Wouldn’t that mean a loss of time for the travelers because everyone else would be moving along the timeline faster than them?

Let’s see… holes in pants, versus looking like you peed yourself? Hmm. Tough call, but I’m going to go with YES very different.

You don’t pay for the badge directly. You do pay for your BSA membership, and you may have materials you need to purchase – some materials you can get for free from some retailers.

You overestimate the public education system in my state; especially when I was in grade school.

(I thought it was 100°F boiling and 0°F was freezing)

That’s what I was implying.

I’m curious where you heard that? Obviously a statement like that made me want to know more, but I’m not finding any information about it.

I’d pick the bear too if it were me, and I’m a guy. Guys these days are way too over-the-top and don’t know when to quit.

If only there was an article that described the monetization of such a model… oh, wait…

We want people to make money off of their software, but we recognize that the community benefits from a project's economic success. Within fair-code, creators have the exclusive right of commercializing their work, ensuring long-term profitability. Companies that wish to commercialize the software can contact the author and form a business relationship that benefits both parties!

Show me someone who didn’t read the linked article…

That has to be one of the laziest, obvious trolls I’ve seen in a while. Could you at least put a little more effort into understanding the thing you’re railing against and not showing your blatant ignorance? That is not what was said and you know it. Do better.

You should familiarize yourself with the concept called Burden of Proof. They (those who believe in God, and claim he exists and created all things, etc) are the ones where the burden lies. It is not for the rest of us to prove their beliefs for them, or you.

A person could easily be poisoned, I mean infected with Flu and MRSA.

Are we talking 1/4lb, 1/3lb, or 1/2lb? Then are we talking single, double, triple? Hamburgers as a unit of measurement is a horrible idea.

Yes, we have a vaccine. No the pandemic is not over yet. Bonus points: we still have an unhealthy large number of people refusing to get vaccinated.

That’s not patriotism. It’s nationalism.

I think it’s hilarious. They build a community under the auspices of freedom and liberty, only to legally bind you to a freedom-restricting HOA agreement. Anybody who buys in that community deserves everything they get from it.

dohpaz42 ,
@dohpaz42@lemmy.world avatar

I get it.

No you don’t; there’s no getter.

You joke, but that has been pounded into our heads our entire life, and even me (a gen x’er) feels like it’s my own fault because the world has been beating me down for not reaching whatever arbitrary standard it’s set for us.

dohpaz42 ,
@dohpaz42@lemmy.world avatar

We should get all of us together, pool what little money we have, and buy us a huge compound somewhere and have our own community. I mean, what could go wrong, right? 👀

I read the article, and a few points stuck out to me:

  1. This has been a restriction since 2021; now it’s documented in the files and not just the online EULA (ie consistent)
  2. This is a protection to disallow other companies like Intel and AMD from profiting off of Nvidia’s work
  3. Nothing is stopping anybody from porting the software to other hardware, eg

Recompiling existing CUDA programs remains perfectly legal. To simplify this, both AMD and Intel have tools to port CUDA programs to their ROCm (1) and OpenAPI platforms, respectively.

I’m all for piracy and personal freedoms, but it doesn’t seem to be what this is about. It’s about combating other companies profiting off Nvidia’s work. Companies should be able to fight back against other companies (or countries).

I mean it’s not like Nvidia is unreasonably suing open-source projects into oblivion or anything, or subpoenaing websites for user data; at least, not yet.

What is the deal with Palestine and Hamas?

For mental health reasons, I had taken myself out of most political topics. But lately there seems to be a surge of talk about Palestine and Hamas (forgive me if I spelled this wrong). I do know it’s something to do with land rights, but it also seems to be so much more at the same time. I’m not trying to start any fights. I...

Just booked a week-long trip to Puerto Rico for Thanksgiving!

So my last post here was a tad bit on the negative side, so this post will balance that out with some positive news. As terrifying as it is right now to me, I just booked myself a week-long vacation to Puerto Rico. Solo. By myself. I'm certainly thrilled as well as terrified. But, I feel like this is the kind of move I need to...

Ketamine for Drug-Resistant Depression

So I’ve been diagnosed with dysthymia, and have been on various medications for about 13-15 years now. Long story short, it works for the most part, but doesn’t quite go all the way. In other words, I still deal with a great deal of depression every day. Some of it is stress related, and some of it is out of nowhere....
