The cops already kicked the protestors out a few weeks ago. I think these are the aftermath photos.

As a Portland resident, I will just say our heart is always into it, but our brains not so much. I don't know what the message was meant to convey by vandalizing a library. Usually the protests start of well intentioned, but always break down as bad actors and grifters work their way in to cause trouble because they find entertainment in doing so.

@altima_neo@lemmy.zip avatar

Right? There's nothing stopping them from making yet another reboot rather than a sequel.

Trucks are a whole other issue into themselves, though. Not just the tire wear, but their terrible fuel economy.

altima_neo ,
@altima_neo@lemmy.zip avatar

Same. I've gotten a few replies with a blank comment. It's weird.

Favourite patient modern game?

A bit of a weird title, but basically what’s a game that’s more than a year old but still considered “modern” that you love? There’s no real strict definition for modern, I’d just like to see some discussion around great games that aren’t quite classics yet (but probably will be one day)....

Titanfall 2. I could keep playing that all evening. Its just a shame its not as popular as it was in its heyday.

They drank the AI Kool aid are trying to make it sound like they're boosting productivity and thus their profitability. But we all know it's bullshit.

Yeah but where can one import these... for a friend?

A supermarket trip may soon look different, thanks to electronic shelf labels ( www.npr.org )

Grocery store prices are changing faster than ever before — literally. This month, Walmart became the latest retailer to announce it’s replacing the price stickers in its aisles with electronic shelf labels. The new labels allow employees to change prices as often as every ten seconds....

altima_neo ,
@altima_neo@lemmy.zip avatar

Best Buy has them too, here in the US. Its nothing new. This analyst making these comments about the price increases is just full of shit and trying to get his name out there or something.

Gateway 2000 Computer - Brand New - Free to a good home! ( lemmy.world )

So I'm cleaning out a house and found a brand new Gateway2k Pentium 4 computer. Someone opened the boxes but never took the computer out, its all still in the plastic and I don't want to ruin the unboxing for someone that is into this. The computer is free to a good home in the Boston metro area to make your retro gaming dreams...

altima_neo ,
@altima_neo@lemmy.zip avatar

Wow, who buys an beast like that and doesnt even use it?

altima_neo ,
@altima_neo@lemmy.zip avatar

It helps that it's an "industry analyst" and not someone from Walmart.

I can tell you, working in retail, there's no way they'd jack up prices during a heatwave for water. They still gotta compete with other stores, and charging more would cause shoppers to go to where it's cheaper.

Now if there's shortages all over town and even the followers can't keep up, I can see them fucking with prices. But they could do that right now if they wanted to. It's not hard to adjust prices.

The real advantage of electronic labels is not having a crew to replace stacks and stacks of labels all over the store. The cost of labor and cost of the actual label sheets and printer maintenance to keep all that up to date, I'm guessing, is getting to the point where it's cheaper to use electronics.

Not just Star Wars, but Battlestar Galactica, too. I mean Lonestar was clearly Starbuck!

altima_neo ,
@altima_neo@lemmy.zip avatar

I wouldn't doubt it. I'm sure those military guys are just salivating at the thought of getting into another war and spinning up the military industrial complex to print more money.

I just use a cloud service to do that. One drive or Google drive. It's not foss, but it works

I remember this. It had some slapping music

altima_neo ,

I figure it's a lot like listening to an American speak mangled Spanish. With the inflection and accents all wrong.

Oh damn. The game really opens up after you leave that first area. Thats basically the tutorial. Once you get access to a vehicle and more of your abilities, it really becomes a blast.

As far as the cutscenes went, at least for my playthrough, I basically only ran into them during boss fights, but the ending really slaps you with a lot of exposition. I really enjoyed the cutscenes though.

Reminds me of kkreiger, an fps with impressive graphics and sound for the time, that weighed in at 96KB.

Basically it's all procedurally generated assets. It takes a long time to start to because it has to make all it's textures and sound effects.

That's because on food, you're supposed to wash hands, put on gloves, work with food. Change gloves when dirty. When switching to another kind of food task, wash hands, new gloves. There's a lot of rules for glove use in food.

She seems so well behaved in the before picture.

Getting my cat in her carrier is a nightmare. Shes kinda big and gets frightened really easily. Shell be yowling murder as soon as I manage to put her in the carrier. I used to be able to trick her to get in on her own with treats, but she wised up and snatches the treat and runs out... so I have to pick her up and drop her in, which only makes her more angry.

Y2K happened, just not how everyone thought.

Instead it was a huge marketing ploy. Everyone spent money to be protected and safe. We all listened to Prince as the ball dropped.

I never understood the hate for vista. Ran great on my PC at the time. When 7 came out, I upgraded and was confused because it was practically identical to vista, yet people loved 7.

altima_neo ,
@altima_neo@lemmy.zip avatar

The world before the Internet.

I was there. We had to go to the library if we wanted information. The magazine aisle at the grocery store is where you got your up to date info that you couldn't always get on TV. TV was like 5 channels. A few more local ones if you were lucky.

They're was nothing on TV after a certain hour. Just static, or colored bars and a buzzer. You had to wait till morning for TV broadcasts to start again.

No one had cell phones. You had to go to your friends house to see if they were home, and yell for them at their window.

Fun times.

I didn't even hate me. It was fine. Felt like 98 service pack 3.

The tdp is bullshit on the n100. It really means nothing, as it can pull closer to 14W idle, it's still good, but don't rely on the numbers too much, if that's important to you.

The thing I don't like about the n100 is that it only supports single channel RAM, and the naming makes no sense, as the n97 outperforms it.

One, icq was still online? I stopped using that one aim got popular and everyone had it.

And two, vk owns icq??

Lame. I wonder if this will affect me as someone who was affected by the sprint merger and am on a sprint equivalent plan?

New Details on Valve's New Game 'Deadlock' - Insider Gaming ( insider-gaming.com )

As already leaked, the game is a 6v6 third-person hero-based shooter. Heroes include magicians, robots, creatures, humans, and more. There are currently 19 different heroes, each with different abilities and playstyles that you’d come to expect from a MOBA including ranged, healers, tanks, assassins, etc....

@altima_neo@lemmy.zip avatar

The screenshots on it look so bad, too. It's very generic looking. Uncharacteristic for Valve.
