Then don't do all of it. I like to break my to-do list down to the smallest, actionable step? Usually it's just a shower, but it helps me hate myself less.

But if you install the app you get a free Bluetooth speaker!!

/Joking. Am I the only one who gets that ad constantly whenever I'm using a device that isn't running ad blocks?

Timecircleline ,

Doing something because you wanted to makes you way more grown up than the clothes.

Timecircleline ,

My face reading this 😐😀😰

Timecircleline ,

They market it as gourmet or something. If you get Velveeta shells there the sauce is in a pouch.

Your comment made me look at your username and now I regret it.

Health-care system is 'broken,' Niagara woman says after dad dies suddenly in emergency room ( www.cbc.ca )

The (Ontario Health) coalition, which advocates for improvements to the public health care system, is documenting experiences like Zammit's at hearings around rural Ontario this month. With input from opposition critics, the network of over 400 grassroot organizations wants to draft recommendations on how to improve local...

Timecircleline ,

The shutting down and dismantling is the point. If the public health care system fails, private health care is more palatable, poor people die (and with the affordability crisis ongoing, most people are closer to this bucket) or stay sick and rich people get richer.

Butt-friendly bike seat moves with your legs ( newatlas.com )

If you don't want a part of your body to get sore, then that part shouldn't be pushing against something that doesn't move along with it. That's the thinking behind the vabsRider bicycle saddle, the two sides of which pivot in time with your pedaling.

Timecircleline ,

I've been told it helps to not wear underwear with bike shorts.

Timecircleline ,

That makes complete sense

Timecircleline ,

Thank you for the response! I just started learning how to ride (short distances) and a coworker gave me that piece of advice and I didn't know if they were messing with me or not.

Timecircleline ,

Ahhh this is how I set up my farm every time too!!

Book outlet! They're based in Thorold Ontario. They don't have everything but I always check them first.

Agreed on all counts. Especially unnerving to say the "criminal class" part when Canada and especially the greater Toronto area are facing an affordability crisis and people are turning towards crime to survive.

And then the ethically sourced soy latte comment? So unnecessary.

I think it would be extremely difficult to peel a lemon while wearing gloves

Canadian immigration asks medical worker fleeing Gaza if he treated Hamas fighters ( kitchener.citynews.ca )

Kelly O’Connor, an immigration lawyer in Toronto, said she gasped out loud when she saw the text. Any medical worker who denies care to someone hurt in a war zone is committing a “serious breach of the Geneva Convention,” she said in an interview....

Timecircleline ,

But asking if they provided medical care to injured members of Hamas is beyond the pale. This isn't an application for a car loan, this is trying to escape an active war zone and cobble together some semblance. I doubt political affiliation came up during medical assessments, but even if it is the Geneva convention would forbid turning anyone away.

Timecircleline ,

Even if they are just trying to gather that information, immigration is the absolute wrong place to do it. So much is riding on this for the individuals coming in, and the fear that it might disqualify them when they were acting the way any good healthcare worker would is real.

My superpower is I don't need a game for that

Nemo's vocal range was so impressive that the first time I heard the song I thought they were accompanied by an opera singer- nope, they were the opera.

Last year a transman participated for Serbia (Luke Black) and I don't think he got out of the semi-final, if that makes you feel better..

The popular vote was for Baby Lasagna (Croatia) but I think the jury tends to like solo acts and pop better than bands and metal/heavier rock. It was a big deal when Maneskin won a few years back.

Timecircleline ,

I almost think there should be a seperate award for the soul of eurovision. Finland might have won that this year.

Timecircleline ,

Hmm... A perfectly neutral review with a share of the wording from the contract is nothing but factual, and I believe could be argued to be non disparaging?

Timecircleline ,

I really enjoyed it, and I usually have a hard time getting sucked into tv shows. That said I probably only have about 15 hours across all the fallout games I've played (3,4,NV) because I get stressed out about rads and weapon decay lol

Timecircleline ,

I'm sorry, could you elaborate? Do you mean because transgender people are so much more likely to be the victims of violent crimes?

I believe the reason the sign is highlighting women (all women) as opposed to specifically transgender women or people in general is that so few people are transgender,, that's the Canadian 2022 census because it actually included questions on gender, resulting in 0.33% of the population stating they identify with a gender other than that they were assigned at birth. Whereas women usually make up just over half the population, and have usually been made to feel unsafe by men (for example, 97% of women report being catcalled), without touching the rest of the violence against women, almost all of which is perpetrated by men.

If I'm off the mark I would love to hear your thoughts.

Scrolling Lemmy instead of reading the book that I'm pretty into. I've been staying up too late reading lately, and its not late yet, and so I could read now but inertia is keeping me doomscrolling

Primordial pouches are where cats keep their secrets. One of my cats has more secrets than the other.

Timecircleline ,

I'm sorry you're getting so much grief for this. One of my cats has short little whiskers by her mouth and big long whisker eyebrows. Cats are weirdos by default and that's why we love them.

Will I ever be seen as truly British?

My family immigrated to the UK from Poland when I was six. I'm 20 now, speak much better English than Polish and feel like this is my land/culture. However I have a Polish first and last name, Polish passport and "unique" accent everyone picks up on, so despite this I'm usually perceived as an outsider. It makes me really sad...

Timecircleline ,

I'm not sure if you're able to pursue citizenship, if it's something you're after, but in terms of the "unique" accent- you don't owe anybody an answer if they ask "where are you from?"

You can tell them you're English. You can tell them you grew up in England, truthfully. You can tell them English is the only language you speak. You don't owe anyone your backstory. If you're feeling petty or vindictive you can lie and say you have a speech impediment. I know their intentions are likely good but by inquiring about your accent, they are othering you. It's up to you how you'd like to respond.

Timecircleline ,

I think Segwayed is better because James Heseldon, inventor of the Segway, died after riding a Segway off a cliff.

Edit: apologies! Apparently he didn't invent the Segway, just owned the company

Timecircleline ,

Ok I agree that the title falls flat but I appreciate that the red circle draws the eye away from the first text from him, so that it's funnier when it's read. A rare example of red circle as comedy, if you will.

It'll be important for future students studying economics and how a rap battle stabilized the Toronto housing market.

Timecircleline ,

I would encourage anyone who is interested in this concept to do a little more reading on the concept. Ikigai is a lot more than just fulfillment with employment- which is closer to the concept known as hatarakigai. I appreciate you sharing this meme though- it was how I was first introduced to the concept.

Timecircleline ,

There's a free app called Kinnu that has a learning pathway on the subject. You can also read some of the articles for free here: https://kinnu.xyz/kinnuverse/philosophy/ikigai/

Some of the material is based on "The Little Book of Ikigai" by Ken Mogi, if you prefer books.

Timecircleline ,

I wish there was a shitty bird nests community on the fediverse you could crosspost that too. Talk about low effort.

Timecircleline ,

All I learned from this thread is that the word "floor" looks wrong to me now, on so many levels.

choosing a lemmy instance ( lemmy.blahaj.zone )

Alt: "Choose your own radical identity" followed by an anarchist flag with half of it being blank. Next to it are crayons in different colors, referencing different anarchist orientations using different colours to fill the space. At the bottom it says: "A DIY activity book for ages 9-12"

Timecircleline ,

Is that just extreme libertarianism? Legitimately curious.
