I'm cautiously optimistic about this, it seems like an okay idea and the fact that they have vehicles working on a test track IRL means it's at least not an obvious scam like hyperloop.
Also the fact that they have a specific use case in mind, don't say it's going to revolutionize all transportation, and are reusing existing infrastructure, all bode well.
god this is like when everyone called first person shooters "doom clones", overwatch is absolutely not a tf2 ripoff lmao, and making a hero shooter does not mean it's an overwatch ripoff either.
i don't even bother with anything that interactive, i just go "mhmm" and "hmm" and yet still people don't realize i'm starting to dissociate from boredom
for me it's literally just my own voice (and i can mimic other voices) and i sort of hear it overlaid on everything else, sorta like what happens when you hold a hand in front of only one eye, you see both things at once.
The only real difference from my physical voice is that there's none of that delay and friction from having to physically speak, so it's harder to prevent my inner monologue from saying stuff which is extremely annoying since i'm autistic and thus have echolalia, meaning i just reflexively repeat things i hear..
The idea that other people have some sort of independent inner voice, or even several ones, is rather terrifying to me.
are you capable of visualizing things? some time ago i learned that most people apparently can literally see things they picture in their head, which is something i'm only barely capable of doing if i close my eyes and relax.
Like i can summon the image of a basic shape and make it rotate at a consistent speed, that's it. But then when i'm extremely relaxed and almost about to fall asleep, or when i'm dreaming, i literally just see my imagination as if i'm looking at the real world.
However what i can do is "visualize" extremely well with the sense of proprioception (the thing that lets you know where your hands are in relation to the rest of your body), so i can rotate objects in my headspace and walk through physical spaces. I can't see anything in there, but i'm fully aware of the shape of things and i simply remember what colour things are.
i've found "space music ambience" to work very well, it's stimulating but not too engaging. Voices don't work for me no matter what language it's in, because i'll try to interpret it.
the problem with ubuntu is canonical, it's a shame it's got the reputation as "the third OS" when it's basically the only distro that's trying to replicate the walled gardens of microsoft and apple.
here's a life hack: most dishes can just be rinsed off directly after using them, especially if the only thing it's been in contact with is something watery and water soluble.
There is absolutely no need to wash a bowl you've had cereal in, just rinse it with hot water for a few seconds and you're done.
and this is why i wish people would make it profitable, fuck AAA titles, give your money to indies who respect the consumers and actually just want to make a fun game.
I wish game devs would found a union that helps developers fund and publish games with no profit incentive, it seems like such an obvious thing to do and has the potential to revolutionizing how people create and play games.
No longer would we be beholden to companies, no longer would developers have to compromise their works for profit, no longer would players have to tolerate predatory bullshit.
Just good games made by passionate people who are happy to have people enjoy their works while being able to afford to live on it.
which is why the steam deck was such a breath of fresh air, it's what consoles SHOULD be.
A computer built primarily for gaming, sold at a reasonable price, that merrily lets you switch to desktop mode and launch excel for some office work if you want to.
meanwhile updates on linux telling me exactly what is happening in real time, working completely in the background, and politely informing me that i may wish to reboot to apply all the updates properly
then why ask for both things? just have a checkbox to indicate that the information is in the resumé, and if it isn't then obviously they shouldn't be hired since they either can't read or don't give a shit.
Experiencing firsthand how difficult an aging alcoholic, quadriplegic, post stroke, narcissistic, demented or simply ‘nothing’s wrong with me, I can drive, I don’t need those meds, I don’t need to go to a nursing facility’ kinda parent surely gives you some insight on what to do, what not to do and how to prepare for...
and this is why we should be rioting in the streets about the state of the medicinal industry, we could have the ability to cure terrible ailments like dementia and cancer, but because that's not actively profitable we only allocate some token amounts of funding to the research, and what few treatments we do have are hideously expensive for many people to the point that they might as well just spend the money on enjoying their last few years of life than spend it on extending their lives by a few more years..
We as a society have just decided that profit for a couple thousand rich people is more important than ourselves being able to continue living.
Would you prefer they ban driving? we simply cannot keep going as we are, things have to change and you can either change your habits alongside it, accept that you have to pay more, or whine as you keep pumping poison into the air and contribute to your own early death from climate change.
i will never understand the idea that human age limits would apply to a completely different species, if they're fully mature and capable of consent at 9 years old then that's their age limit, we don't get to impose that on their species.
Should we stop birds from getting it on with each other because they mature within a year or two? I think they might take offense to that, and i don't want to face an angry goose.
obviously i haven't read more than like 5 sentences of this because what did you expect posting this to an adhd space, but here's my take:
Make things easy for yourself, and do however much you can whenever you can.
I don't load the entire dishwasher at once, i put in 2-5 dishes at a time whenever i'm in the kitchen.
I keep a trashcan next to my computer so i don't leave trash laying around, it's actively easier to toss it in the bin than it is to put it anywhere else.
I wash or put away dishes as i cook, when they're freshly used you can often just rinse them off, and putting it in the washer now means i don't have to think about it later.
It's something i think you have to experiment with yourself to figure out what works, but i think those 3 things should be quite universal and helpful.
minimalism is the best thing that happened to me, not only does it make living with adhd way easier, but i also saves money and is better for the environment!
turns out both school and work are profoundly dysfunctional systems that bear no regard for the feelings of students/workers, and only exist to train us into being good little wage slaves so corporations can extract value from us
stuff like this makes me so pissed that it's so difficult to get into leadership positions for most people, those with connections and money are free to fail upwards and ruin things, but the average joe can be the genius of our age and be stuck working at starbucks for minimum wage their entire life..
It's also frustrating that a lot of baffling corporate decisions aren't even excusable as being for profit, it's just some executive being a moron and no one stops them! If it was for profit i could at least feel nihilistic about it, but this is just corporations actively choosing to continue letting things happen that benefit no-one.
that's a thing, sure, but at least personally most of the time it's neither of these, it's "i have so much knowledge of this topic lodged inside my brain that it's fighting to escape and i have a profound need to talk about it to others, and there is no greater joy in life than having a person ask follow-up questions"
At this point i just conclude that a truly terrifying amount of people are lowkey mistreating their pets and operate under the assumption that a pretty severely unhappy pet is actually normal.
Like all the "funny" posts about how cats are so unfriendly and whatnot, bitch what the fuck are you doing to your cat to make it behave like that? all the cats i've ever interacted with have at worst been indifferent, and most of the time they'll merrily make their way over for scritches and love.
A violent cat isn't normal and it's not funny, it means it's not happy for crying out loud! i would wager that the most common problem is that they're bored out of their skulls and are in dire need of playtime and ideally having a second cat in the household so they can entertain each other.
and like even if it is just headache.. HEADACHES SUCK! we need to normalize actually taking a break when you have pain, ignoring it because it's "no big deal" is so fucking toxic
it's the old adage that designing for disability benefits everyone, and good lord it just never stops being true.
like, no one functions perfectly at all times, EVERYONE has points in their life where they just can't perform to expected standard and if things are built with disabilities in mind then they can simply make use of that when needed.
Sure you might have two functional legs right now, but who knows when you'll lose one or both? and at some point you'll become old and gangly and the idea of walking 3 stories with groceries will make you weep. So maybe let's design things with disability in mind so it's simply never a thing anyone has to worry about.
honestly the diagnosis system is rancid even at a surface level, oh okay i have one too few symptoms to qualify guess i can go fuck myself and will the other symptoms away then
