Hoping to phase Google products out of my life. I think the challenge will be YouTube. Hopefully Rumble becomes more popular and has as good if not better features than YouTube.

StaySquared ,

Nice! Thank you!!

StaySquared ,

Facts. GMail took me about 4 months or so, just incrementally logging in and checking every service and subscription I have attached to GMail, logging into that account and changing the email address to my new email address. It's a tedious task but worth it. Google is far too intrusive, imo.

StaySquared ,

I would not forward anything from GMail to another email provider. Google is intrusive. They have no reason to know anything about my new email address. But I'm overreacting and that's okay.

StaySquared ,

Dood.. thanks for posting this. I've got some researching to do.

StaySquared ,

Maybe? I created a Rumble account sometime last year, I tried using it a bit.. it was okay. I tried finding some of my favorite content creators, found a handful then just stopped using Rumble. I've used it when it's content that YouTube would normally block.

In Detroit where in some areas, you don't stop at a red light.. you drive right through it and keep going.

StaySquared , (edited )

My wife is Arab, wears a headscarf. She stopped at a red light, cop car whips around to the side of her vehicle and told her that driving the vehicle she has will catch attention and get car jacked. They outright told her never to stop at that red light and the following three red lights on that road, day or night.

StaySquared ,

Oh.. lol no doubt.

Gratiot Avenue and Kelly Road between 7 and 8 Mile roads. Pretty much stay away from zip code 48205 aka 4-8-2-0-DIE!

Americans don't generally have a negative thing to say about public transportation. Americans, however, prefer to drive their own vehicle for many reasons. For one, being independent, not relying on a schedule. Not worrying about missing their transportation and catching a later one, then being late to the arrival of their destination.

I don't know where you live, but in the big cities of the U.S., public transportation... isn't exactly hygienic. You will smell urine. You will encounter chitty people. You will be spending time reading all the random chit people write/scratch onto the walls and glass. You will sit on uncomfortable chairs, might even touch someone's chewed up gum by accident.

I've seen some chit both in city busses and trains but this was in Chicago and some parts of NY. Never would I ever want to live that life. Ever.

Seriously.

StaySquared ,

Bruh.. in California, Southern California (Inland Empire) and Northern California (the Bay), you could be walking through a wealthy neighborhood, one street over and it's the fkin hood and it legit looks like a fkin hood. I can't even wrap my head around it. At least in SE Michigan, you can see the gradual change from wealth to knocking on death's door. Or at least from my experience.

StaySquared , (edited )

That's because on average, people in Belgium are more civilized than Americans. Do you have homelessness problems in your nation? No? We do. Yes? Do your homeless literally pull their pants down in broad daylight and take a chit on the sidewalk for everyone to see without a single fk given? Bet you don't. We do.

I bet in your college towns and cities, if you have parking garages, you don't have urine and or chit in the elevators and or staircase.. we do.

You see.. in our nation, we truly have the chittiest of chitty people overall, mainly in large cities. They are chitty in many chitty different ways. And we have to share public everything with these chitty people. So yeah, unfortunately, public transportation is going to be chitty on average, day in and day out.

StaySquared ,

I'm still trying to navigate through the rules of Lemmy.. sort of walking on eggshells.

StaySquared ,

There's a lot to do in Detroit, honestly. Downtown that is, including family activities. I pretty much go to Dearborn every month for bulk purchases of halal chicken, beef, and lamb and dining in. Downtown Detroit isn't that much further away.

StaySquared ,

Noted!

Thanks for the tip.

US military says Gaza Strip pier project is completed, aid to soon flow as Israel-Hamas war rages on ( apnews.com )

The U.S. military finished installing a floating pier for the Gaza Strip on Thursday, with officials poised to begin ferrying badly needed humanitarian aid into the enclave besieged over seven months of intense fighting in the Israel-Hamas war....

StaySquared ,

Don't be surprised if the U.S. claims they were attacked by Hamas and the U.S. gets dragged into the war.

According to a 2019 UN report, there are over 3 billion barrels of oil estimated to be located beneath the occupied lands of Palestine, including off the coast. The UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has identified potential and existing oil and natural gas reserves in the West Bank and Gaza, including 1,525 billion barrels of proven oil reserves in the occupied Palestinian territories. However, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) says that the Palestinian territories do not produce oil.

Does the Indiana judge know what a Torta is? Does he not realize that there's... actual sandwiches (there's like 7-8 different sandwiches). Tacos and burritos are NOT sandwiches.

I'm Latino, not of Mexican origin. However, sometimes I prefer their sandwich over any other dish. And I normally would buy two of them.

StaySquared ,

Technically it's a grilled cheese sandwich, right?

But getting into technicalities:

According to Merriam-Webster, a quesadilla is a sandwich if you classify a tortilla as bread. A sandwich is defined as "two or more slices of bread or a split roll having a filling in between" or "one slice of bread covered with food". A quesadilla is made with a tortilla and cheese, but the tortilla does not contain a leavening agent and therefore cannot be considered bread.

StaySquared ,

True. Arabic wraps (chicken shawarma for example) are considered sandwiches.

StaySquared ,

Nice find!

StaySquared OP ,

Thanks for the response. I believe I have a better understanding now after your explanation. I will try to do better.

Thanks again for your input.

StaySquared OP ,

I'm not sure if it's a permaban. But I will try to reach out to the mod. Thanks for the suggestion.

StaySquared OP ,

Good point.

StaySquared ,

Hm... I curiously checked my phone, deleted images/videos are still deleted and haven't resurfaced. Then again I don't mix technology with nudity. /shrug

StaySquared ,

Yeah.. I think I'd rather do that in person than to video record or take images of myself nude. Privacy and security is a pretty big deal to me. Hence, I don't mix technology with nudity.

StaySquared ,

Hm.. I never felt a need to expose myself (using tech) to another person to feel validated or to get their (or my) rocks off or for any other reason, honestly. I'm not trying be morally superior, I'm just saying I don't expose myself with technology as a medium. In fact, I've never posted a photo of myself on any social media. I take privacy and security seriously.

Plus look at the consequences of exposing yourself to others through tech... blackmail, image-based abuse/exploitation, revenge p*rn etc..

My initial comment was simply stating that Apple's latest update hasn't undeleted any of my photos/videos in general but that then again I don't have any nude images/videos on my iphone/iCloud storage if the claim is that nude images/videos exclusively are getting undeleted.

StaySquared ,

Pretty sure physical contact is far superior to... sending nudes. But if that's having a better sex life, hey good on you LOL

StaySquared ,

Indeed. But Apple does have the tech to analyze images/videos:

Apple's CSAM detection capability is built solely to detect known CSAM images stored in iCloud Photos that have been identified by experts at NCMEC and other child safety groups.

StaySquared ,

haha..

StaySquared ,

So you use a de-googled android?

StaySquared ,

Eh it's slightly like Reddit in the sense you have to walk on eggshells. If you look at the Modlogs, in my case for example, you'll see I had comments deleted because it appeared to be disrespectful? Someone who I was responding to decided to label my response as having an, "attitude".. I'm too old to be a d*ck to people online - unless of course I'm returning the favor but even then I mostly brush it off and I don't go crying to the mods or reporting comments. Sticks and stones and all that.

But so far while the community is much smaller, it's definitely a lot more open to discourse between people with different/opposing views, or so it seems so far except you will definitely get downvoted for opposing views.

StaySquared ,

When confirmation bias fails. Hard pill to swallow.

StaySquared ,

That's not a work addict. That's a wage slave.

StaySquared ,

I left FB back in 2020 among other social media accounts.

The problem with people, just in general.. regardless of who they are, what they believe in, what part of the world they live in... they just read headlines and quickly post it for attention. They don't take the time to read it, ingest it, question it, find other sources to provide more details or to counter the story. People don't care to have a holistic view of an issue and that's sad. At the same time I also blame the chitty producers of said news and the titles they decide to go with and how they love to bury the more important information 4-5-6-7 paragraphs or more down the page.. you have to read all this bs fluff to finally get to the meat and potatoes of the issue.

I'm hoping that some how, some way, an unbiased AI is created just for internet search purposes, where it can gather all the data, analyze it, then present its findings into a summary with all the sources listed.

StaySquared ,

Shhhh

Now go read the Talmud for an amazing adventure! <3

StaySquared ,

You're saying wizard nerds who are fans of JKR... became violent toward trans people? Wat.

StaySquared ,

I wasn't trying anything, I'm trying to understand what you're claiming. It read as if you're saying JK has inspired people to become violent toward trans people.

‘My whole library is wiped out’: what it means to own movies and TV in the age of streaming services ( www.theguardian.com )

*What rights do you have to the digital movies, TV shows and music you buy online? That question was on the minds of Telstra TV Box Office customers this month after the company announced it would shut down the service in June. Customers were told that unless they moved over to another service, Fetch, they would no longer be...

StaySquared ,

Well that's stupid. Getting negative reviews is also a good thing. It allows you to re-evaluate your product(s). Pretty much you're going to sell a half assed product, pretending it's amazing because you refused to take critically-negative feedback from your paying customers. Guess they just want to completely obliterate their company.

All I can do is grin and shake my head when they choose a bear lol

Not all men are ferocious animals.
But all bears are ferocious animals.

StaySquared ,

I understand. The way I'm seeing it is, even if it's a 50/50 chance, she may be able to fend for herself... a bear? What? 90% chance (bears normally try to stay away from humans until you enter their territory) and she's definitely not just going to die, but she's going to be ripped to shreds, not to mention the type of damage a bear's jaw can do. Easily crush bones.

I mean I get it, in uncivilized civilizations, there's going to be some really chitty people, and chitty men are far more dangerous. So women are going to fear men in general.
