McDonald’s Gives Up On ‘AI’ After Comedy Of Errors, Including Putting Bacon On Ice Cream ( www.techdirt.com )

LLMs certainly hold potential, but as we’ve seen time and time again in tech over the last fifteen years, the hype and greed of unethical pitchmen has gotten way out ahead of the actual locomotive. A lot of people in “tech” are interested in money, not tech. And they’re increasingly making decisions based on how to drum...

I'm pretty sure some of those fancy restaurants that pop up everywhere already do this. They'll put bacon on anything

If it's any consolation, SK said they would begin providing Ukraine munitions if they're neighbors to the north decide to involve themselves

Doesn't that open them up for a lawsuit then? Either breach of contract if it's in their legalese, or at least false advertising.

How does that work in States that have closed elections? Would their vote for the Green Party candidate still be valid or would it get thrown out?

Docker installed great! Hello-World returns what it should. I reach problems whenever I try to do anything within Docker, like setting up AdGuard, Jackett, etc.

When I try [sudo nmtui] it gives me "Command nmtui not found, but can be installed with: [sudo apt install network-manager].

Which circles me back to my original problem where I don't have network connectivity.

I was following this walk-through (https://lemmy.world/post/6542543) for getting Docker and all its container apps set up, so that's why I went with Ubi Server. I downloaded 24.04 as its the latest version. Would Mint be able to substitute Server for those things?

My Daily Driver has Mint on it and its working just fine. If I can use Mint instead of Server, that'd make things so much easier.

Yes. It sees it as "Ethernet Adapter - Microsoft"

the Wifi adapter is recognized, but if I try to ping ANYTHING, including the gateway, I get "ping: connect: network is unreachable"

Ubi is just my short-hand for Ubuntu. And I'd love to be able to install Network-Manager, but I can't/dont know a work-around

Lol, I AM using Linux for the first time. But yea, I'm trying to use the most user-friendly things to accomplish what I want to do. Thanks anyway for trying. :)

Sorry, figured it would be an easy shorthand. But with so many different distros out there, I can see how that could be seen as just another one of those. I'll keep that in mind in the future.

I'm actually diving into Linux and Docker for the first time right now, and the setup you described is exactly what I'm looking to do. But seeing as this is my first time. I was hoping I'd be able to get some confirmation of what my idea is or find faults with my setup.

In terms of hardware I have on-hand, I've got two laptops. One of which is a half-top, meaning it has no screen. The other is my daily driver. Both are running Linux Mint.

The half-top has 1TB of storage and would have Docker installed with Plex/Jellyfin, the *arr suite, and HomeAssistant.
On my daily driver, I would be running Portainer or Heimdall to access everything and make changes within the half-top itself. I would also use this to access any of the media I have stored in the half-top.

Does that sound like everything would work?

Then how do you learn about new music?

I thought about (and still want to) keep a self-hosted music library, but one of the things i look forward to is the New Music playlist that updates every Friday on YTM. I've found so many good songs and artists that way.

Well there's your problem. You've got to plug it back in!
