The only thing stopping me is stupid vanguard for league. I'm close to just getting a clean league only mini pc and having my main one be Linux. I'll have to check out bazzite. I play the usual minecraft, terraria, ff14, indie games mostly so hopefully they run fine. I don't think I've played a AAA game in like 7 years.
I did the same, I'm polite, helpful and pleasant to be around. I also keep everyone at arms length and am very careful with how I phrase stuff, people in the office love me and understand I won't be sharing personal stuff and I'm not interested in their personal stuff. If they wanna talk weather, TV shows or games I'm fine with that.
I was always polite and vague with how I declined their questions early on and eventually they got the hints.
Someone mentioned it down the thread but I say non committal stuff like
'I'll have to sit on it'
'it be that way sometimes'
'that's interesting'
'I don't know much about that'
'not sure to be honest'
'oh yea?'
'I hear ya'
'if it makes them happy'
'that's how some people like it'
'I haven't looked into it'
'I haven't considered it'
'that's what I hear'
It all depends on context but I use these replies to let them know I hear them without picking a side if that makes sense. It's best to act like you aren't sure or don't know when they ask about stuff.
Here's an example from yesterday from the trump Biden debate.
They asked me if I was gonna watch and I just said I don't know maybe, I was gonna leave it at that but they kept trying to sports team for Trump and pushing me to answer what I thought about them sitting so close. I took that chance to say I don't really talk about politics at work, all the while typing away and working. That seemed to work and they took the hint and stopped.
It helps if you always act like you don't know/aren't sure about things.
Lul I've had to enlighten people on that last point of yours. Me not dressing punk doesn't mean I'm not, it just means you won't see it coming when I throw a brick through your window cause I look normal in khaki shorts.

I had so many from just eating chips as a kid in Mexico. They still make em, my ex brought me a couple dragon ball super ones from when she went on vacation to Mexico to cheat on me.
Might be a bit dramatic.
All sectors of industry are using more and more tech, we have more people in the workforce now that are tech literate than we did decades ago.
These are random numbers to explain my point.
Look at it this way, in the 90s maybe 20 percent of people knew how to use computers but 12 percent of those were truly tech savvy and knew the ins and out of using a pc.
Now a days 90 percent of people know how to use a pc (regardless of the form it presents itself, be it pc, phone, tablet, etc) but only like 30 percent of them might be truly tech savvy.
It's still a step up from back then, and because of the nature of tech in industry there's always gonna be plenty of people who know how to use pcs well and if there aren't then that's just more money for us who do know.
As much as I enjoy that franchise I agree with you. For years I kept hearing 'it's better in the books', I remember specifically people saying that about the organization that helps dobbie and his people. Fuggin, I read the books as an adult and it's barely expanded on it at all, they just have more scenes about the organization but it isn't ever truly relevant beyond explaining why Hermione does what she does as an adult.
It's a charming little story that matured with readers and got a decent adaptation that led it to explode. Lots of luck to get to where it's at.
I would love to see a wandering inn adaptation instead.
For me it was Rose. She was an alright companion but far from the best and it annoyed me how much importance she had to everything with all her storylines.
I rewatched the first one recently with my girlfriend and God is Edward a creep when seen through non teen girl eyes. Dudes a literal pedo creep but he's handsome and broken so it's ok.
Would it be possible for you to have a Lil pop up letting the people who use the app know? Something like, 'Hey, if there's anything you like or don't like about the app PLEASE let me know I'm listening and want to make it better.' maybe have it be at the top of any new download patchnotes.
I usually dislike them as well which is why I suggested it for patch notes. Those might be the only popups I don't mind cause it let's me know of all the new cool stuff that the app has.
I love that it was fun more than mortifying. I've been there and thanks to the type of person I am, imanaged to make it reassuring instead of morifying for my partner. It's a human reaction, perfectly normal.
Sometimes on Lemmy these seem like the only jobs that actually exist, but I'm sure there's a lot of people here with different and unusual lines of work.
It would actually be easier to just set massive taxes for anyone that owns more than 2 houses. I don't begrudge anyone who owns a house and a vacation house but fuck anyone who just owns rental properties, and if you can afford to buy a third house then you can afford to pay a ton more in taxes to keep it. The more houses you own the higher the taxes go, just make it untenable for people to own rental properties and the rest sorts itself out.
God if that isn't the truth. We changed from Thryv to rackspace and we went from zero spam to 30 a day and this is AFTER they block a bunch. Waste of my time every day having to go through them.
Here's a CNN link that talks about how they were animating for shows like invincible. Iirc the people behind the show didn't know but it's a symptom of the problem with outsourcing everything.
Sorta related, I've talked about humans eating less meat and how vegetarians/vegans have the wrong approach. It's usually the animal cruilty or eat healthier approach with them, I've been saying that to ease people into the vegetarian camp they need to not try to make it a thing.
Baby steps, the way I go about it is I cook my friends delicious food and it just happens to be vegetarian. If you can get them to like a food and want the recipe it's a win, one less meatless meal they'll have occasionally. Rice and repeat and hopefully one day they'll have a handful of meatless meals a week.
I'm Mexican and we have a ton of flavorful vegetarian meals, my personally favorite dish is enchiladas de queso y mole poblano. Im not even vegetarian or vegan, I just decided one day that I should cut some meat out of my diet, after checking what I'm currently eating it turns out I already eat at least 6 meatless meals a week... All cause we just have a lot of really good vegetarian meals in my culture.
If you live in a med to large city you should be able to find the Doña Maria Mole Poblano mix in your local grocery store, check their hispanic isle. It comes in a small glass container. If you live in a bigger city I recommend going to a Mexican grocery market and seeing what other brands they have, just pick whatever looks good to you can't really go wrong and I wouldn't worry about authenticity with this since there's literally thousands of variations on Mexican Mole so it's all authentic in its own way.
OK after that ramble here's a simple ingredients list.
Main ingredients.
Mole Poblano
Queso fresco
Corn tortillas
Onion
Red rice side dish.
Rice
Tomato paste
Tomato bullion
Onion
Garlic
With this list in mind you can go ahead and just browse through recipes online and check whatever has similar ingredients.
You wanna prep the sauce first cause it takes a while on low heat to properly smooth out.
The way my family always made them is you warm up the tortilla in a pan until it gets soft, you don't want to over cook and have them get stiff. All it needs is a couple seconds on high.
Then you chuck em into a smidge of hot oil in another pan, again for only a handful of seconds. 10 or so on each side should be fine depending on how hot the pan is, the key is to not overcook them and have them go stiff.
The you dunk them in the Mole sauce, put them on a plate, add cheese and onion inside to taste and roll em up. Add the garnishes on top and you're done.
Tbh you could just warm up the tortillas in a pan and skip the oil part completely if you want it healthier. That's just how my family always did it so that how I do them.
For the red rice just check out Mexican red rice recipe with similar ingredients and you can't go wrong.
For a non vegetarian version you could also make them out of chicken breast instead. Personally I think just queso fresco is the best, I ommit the onion since I don't like biting into raw onion but my family prefers it with.
Yea that's why I prefer vegetarian over vegan. A ton of the classic vegetarian dishes that are amazing rely on dairy and other animal products that aren't directly meat. From simple things like quesadillas to sopes vegetarianos and enchiladas.
It's all about spices though, I'm dissaponted in that restaurant. Mole Poblano is quite literally all spices and chilis.
Out of curiosity I googled vegetarian Mexican recipes and I'm a bit disappointed there was non of the classics that I cook on the top pages. It's a lot of nuvegetarian recipes, which there's nothing wrong with but they all seemed sorta samey.
Ah fair enough. Yea I love my mom and she wants to be buried in her home country but life is for the living. I'm planning on cremating her and splitting the ashes among my siblings. Not gonna waste money on a service or anything, I know she wouldn't want that at least. If my extended family wants a service they can pay for it themselves I won't be attending.
Reminds me. I played a campaign a couple years ago of high fantasy pathfinder.
I was a small halfling rogue and my bud was a giant jormund?something. Our strat was for him to throw me behind enemies, I would roll to not take damage or fall while landing and then he would go up to them and attack. This made it easy for me to get tons of bonus damage from flanking. Love these sort of strategies.
In the same campaign I would stay permanently stealthed while next to the same bud because of our size difference and a feat I had that allowed me to stealth in the shadows of things bigger than me even while in plain sight.
Same campaign I, unbeknownst to my party and I, managed to steal a weapon that was/belonged to the big baddie of the campaign.
By sheer luck it's touch insanity/corruption/damage toward anyone with an alignment effect didn't kill me instantly because I used an ability that let me sleight of hand it from afar and I gave it to my true neutral capybara mount for safe keeping. We didn't actually know any of this until we had to call it quits shortly after because life got in the way of a couple of us. That revelation was insane. We were all relatively low levels and the only reason we even encountered this situation was because the weapon was controlling/mentally corrupting someone who was meant to be a low level plot crumbs person that we stumbled upon. It was a high fantasy campaign and I specialized my whole build around sleight of hand, that with a high roll made it so I was able to joink this incredibly powerful and high level weapon.
That's why I don't trip if my electronics are handled a lil bit rough in transit. I rather they break in shipping so I can return them and steer clear of that company than later because they're flimsy shitty products. That said, I understand some electronics need to be handled with care.
Damn that's unfortunate. I had my 2023 Honda for over a year and a bit over 20k miles. Been lucky so far that everything works fine, I've driven it up a mountain a couple times when I've gone camping too.
They'll literally never lower prices. Look at what prices for everything are right now. Their excuse was that covid was driving up prices, now that covid is over they realized they could charge more so here we are.
