CEO of Google Says It Has No Solution for Its AI Providing Wildly Incorrect Information ( futurism.com )

You know how Google's new feature called AI Overviews is prone to spitting out wildly incorrect answers to search queries? In one instance, AI Overviews told a user to use glue on pizza to make sure the cheese won't slide off (pssst...please don't do this.)...

If you can't fix it, then get rid of it, and don't bring it back until we reach a time when it's good enough to not cause egregious problems (which is never, so basically don't ever think about using your silly Gemini thing in your products ever again)

Cha cha cha

Just listen to it and you'll know why I love it enough to have it on my playlist. You don't even need to speak Finnish to enjoy it.

Devotion to the faith (I still believe in God but I just don't feel connected to him), marriage, having children, cars, being super rich, universities, patriotism, being in an anglophone country just because I'm too good at English, being manly, being famous, football, traditional customs, I really could go on and on for days.

Can you tell I hate being Moroccan?

Resol ,
@Resol@lemmy.world avatar

I'm not even connected to my so called "homeland" anymore. I desperately wanna leave, but visas are making it incredibly hard. And since there's a huge Moroccan diaspora basically everywhere (which the locals are tired of), I will get lumped together with them against my will.

I'm even queer. This is illegal in Morocco.

People are very quick to make assumptions, generalize, and reach conclusions.

It's really just stupid.

An Important Hypothetical - What Android Apps Do You Install?? ( sh.itjust.works )

You're twelve years old on Thanksgiving at six thirty in the morning. You'll be leaving for Grandma's in about a half hour, and she's lives a three hour drive away, going in one direction. You have nothing to prepare yourself on this journey, other than a tablet running Android Eleven. Beware, the speaker is broken and there is...

Resol ,
@Resol@lemmy.world avatar

I don't remember when Alto's Odyssey became free to play on Android, but it's honestly such an amazing game. Its prequel is pretty nice too, but I like this one better.

I used to be addicted to Super Starfish too. I'm even pretty close to completing it, but just never had my chance to do so because... reasons. I would love to see this game on the Nintendo DS.

I played the original Sonic trilogy. It was fine, I guess.

The Dadish series was super annoying and very infuriating despite looking like something a child could complete in one sitting.

Bean Dreams was absolutely phenomenal, though. I loved every second of it. Why on earth did they have to take it down from app stores???

I played Okay. It was okay.

Bart Bonte's "color" series of games are also pretty fun to play through. You actually can finish all of them in one sitting if you're brainy enough to do so. I did. "Black" was my favorite, since you get a glimpse of the Belgian flag at the end (Bart is Belgian after all).

I even played Goat Simulator on mobile (not the sequel, the original). For some reason I enjoyed that one the most despite how very obviously limited the mobile version is.

Conclusion: I like very niche categories of mobile games.

I especially remember playing the Flash version of Sugar Game a while back, it was my earliest memory of that guy. But yeah, that game specifically wasn't my favorite, but it was still pretty nice especially with the calm soundtrack that plays in the levels.

I have said multiple times before that 2013 was the worst year ever. I'm still proud of that opinion, but maybe, just MAYBE, there was something good about that year after all, so it wasn't all darkness and rainstorms.

It had MOAR websites to access.

If you don't use Bing with Edge, Microsoft will tell you your computer needs repairing.

They are not wrong.

To mend your machine:

  1. Ditch Windows
  2. Install Plasma
  3. Your computer is ready.

The people that use the internet are toxic.

The people that use the internet have made the internet toxic.

The internet got a reputation for being toxic.

I remember seeing both the Moroccan and Paleatinian flags flown upside down at times. Either people simply do not know the correct orientation (remember: star points to the top, green on bottom), don't really care enough to fix it, or have no idea that it's being used as an insult (does that only apply to the US flag?)

Resol ,

Prepare to get crazy mad, but I absolutely despise marshmallows.

They feel so weird especially in my mouth. I feel like I'm eating a bunch of candle wax mixed with white sticky liquid (can't say anymore hints) mixed with whipped cream and powdered sugar and glue and coconut (which I already don't like) and expired milk but without the sourness, all this while it's in the process of solidification, with lots of air trapped inside, and yet it all tastes like the most artificial, fakest recreation of apple flavor I've ever tasted. I feel like I immediately get drunk, high, and on drugs all at the same time as soon as I put just one of these puffcylinders into my mouth. I can't even swallow it, it tastes this bad.

And you're expecting me to burn this piffy puffle substance then mix it with chocolate and biscuit? This is giving me an absolute stroke.

Prepare the downvotes. I have just roasted (pun not intended) everyone's favorite gelatin snack, and it might as well be the most offensive thing I've said about food.

We don't hate Jews, but we do hate Israel. The two things are in no way synonymous. There are non Zionist Jews, and there are non Jewish Israelis. Some Israelis are against what their state is doing too, regardless if they actually are Jewish or not.

Although for some reason some people in my country definitely hate both. I have spoken to a friend of mine yesterday who said he wanted the Jews gone. I don't think I should continue trusting that guy.

Lemmy is basically an parallel universe of Reddit. There's less people here, which means smaller but also less toxic communities. Since this is a segment of the fediverse, people also tend to talk about Linux and free open source software, while also trashing on Windows, Google, and any other product by what I like to call "Big Tech". People are much more liberal here, there's more tolerance for the LGBT community, there's basically lots of hatred for cars, people praise the European Union. Ok some of these are bad examples of liberalism, but still, it's all found here. Enjoy your stay. If you don't like it, you're free to bid us farewell.

The people still aren't happy. Their favorite (Croatia) didn't win. And yeah, they did deserve it too, but come on, 2nd place was the best they ever did.

Let's just be thankful that it wasn't Israel who took the trophy. And I'm pretty sure juries are the ones who prevented that, who are also the same people who gave almost all their votes to Switzerland.

So many other countries got robbed though, especially Norway.

I am kinda nostalgic for the year 2013, despite the fact that I hated that year so, so much due to how insanely suicidal I was. But it did have some fun stuff, such as Random Access Memories (see what I did there?)

As someone who is aging. Late thirties. How can I keep my finger on the pulse of current trends, particularly in music?

As an example. I grew up in hip-hop but at a certain point I stopped listening to new people and realised recently that I’d slept on some bangers. Like Kendrick particularly, but even people like Juice WRLD and Xxxtentacion....

There is the Eurovision Song Contest, buuuuuuuut, this year's season has been such an incredible shitshow that I can't recommend it anymore. Seriously, I wish it never got this way.

So... spend some time listening to the entries from 2013 to 2022. Those are the ones that I liked the most, especially from 2021 (spoiler: Måneskin is in there somewhere, and so is Duncan Lawrence, and Rosa Linn, and the Sunstroke Project... the ones with the Epic Sax Guy, you might have heard of all of these guys before, oh, and Flo Rida too)

2012 and earlier (down to 1997 I guess) do have some cool stuff, but most of it is kinda kitschy and unserious. There are some strong entries, but it's being overshadowed by what is basically garbage and political voting. But at least we got a taste of Loreen out of that. You've heard of that Nightcore remix of a song called Rockefeller Street? Yep, that's from Eurovision.

As for 2023 specifically... well, there's a certain green Finnish guy that you might love, and has almost won if it wasn't for- oh God, Loreen again? And there's some other cool stuff I guess.

The 90s, 80s, and 70s all have some fantastic entries, some of then are even from super famous people such as ABBA, Celine Dion, Olivia Newton John, Johnny Logan, Julio Iglesias, Samira Bensaid, in addition to lots of incredibly interesting folks. There's a live orchestra in there too, so you know things are authentic.

And then there's the 60s and 50s. I can't remember anything about them.

So, enjoy my recommendation of the songs, and please for God's sake, avoid watching the contest live at all costs, and especially stay away from its political influence. There's a particular country in there that everybody wants out, and I'm pretty sure you know who it is. They've basically ruined 2024.
