Body: I'm tired, let's go to bed

Brain: Nah, I think I'll stay up super late instead and be tired tomorrow for no reason.

NocturnalMorning ,

That's what's so great about it, you never get to sleep.

NocturnalMorning ,

Engineer (p.s. don't become an engineer, it's not as great as they sold it to us)

NocturnalMorning , (edited )

Even more fun is when by all accounts you are successful, and have a good job, and your brain still tells you you're not successful.

That might only be partially the adhd though.

NocturnalMorning ,

That sucks man, feels all too familiar feeling like you just aren't good enough.

NocturnalMorning OP ,

I use melatonin, but that usually gives me insomnia after a while when I try to not use it.

NocturnalMorning OP ,

Ohh that's a good one. Maybe I'll try that.

NocturnalMorning OP ,

Yeah, I get that. When I have a lot going on at work I end up not sleeping bcz of the anxiety, which just makes things worse.

NocturnalMorning OP ,

Hmm, yes, I think I see how that could happen. Anytime I'm stressed out that happens. And right now, I'm not stressed out, just messed uo my sleep schedule a bit, doing a less drastic version of that.

NocturnalMorning OP ,

Guided meditation does work for me when I'm not super stressed from work. I should get into it again.

NocturnalMorning OP ,

This is a good one. I always struggle to keep an exercise routine going.

NocturnalMorning OP ,

What is Calm? All I can find is the meditation app.

NocturnalMorning OP ,

I haven't had a lot of luck with adhd meds. I'm really sensitive to meds unfortunately.

NocturnalMorning OP ,

Made me chuckle, I meant my wife, haha.

NocturnalMorning OP ,

Care to elaborate? I agree it's certainly overused. I know I use it wayy to much.

NocturnalMorning OP ,

I like the smart lights idea. If I owned my house I'd see about doing that.

NocturnalMorning ,

Sometimes I actively decide not to do certain stuff at night bcz I don't know when to quit and go to sleep. It ends up making me tired during the day bcz I don't go to bed on time.

NocturnalMorning ,

I told my partner we had to stop scheduling our entire vacation bcz it was stressing me out.

Now we schedule one or two things in certain days and then do whatever we want, and I deal much better with that.

NocturnalMorning ,

Oh. That's a fantastic idea!

NocturnalMorning ,

Always appreciate someone who doesn't have adhd coming in and giving advice like they have it all figured out. You might as well just say, have you tried not having adhd?

NocturnalMorning ,

Why is this getting up votes? This is dumb.

NocturnalMorning ,

I know what the move is. I just think this is dumb.

NocturnalMorning ,

Yeah, I'm just gonna go ahead and block this dumb community.

NocturnalMorning ,

Living through trauma isn't really a super power. And I wouldn't wish what happened to me on anyone. In fact, I don't usually share what happened to me with anyone but my therapist and my wife.

NocturnalMorning ,

That's fair, I probably shouldn't keep this stuff to myself if I want to get better from it.

NocturnalMorning ,

I actually haven't played any of these games. Maybe I should give em a try.

NocturnalMorning ,

I don't know how i got here, but I seem to have purchased 7 watermelons.

NocturnalMorning ,

My friend has told me to watch a bunch of YouTube videos for the lore. It's apparently very deep.

NocturnalMorning ,

Corollary: I put off getting this done for weeks bcz it was hard and stressed me out, and now I might not get it done at all.

NocturnalMorning ,

I don't feel that way about ffVVI at all. The story was fantastic. My only complaint was that some of the fights just felt like the eikons were damage sponges.

NocturnalMorning , (edited )

They really messed up with ff7 remake part 1. Don't think I'll be buying any of the others unless it's used.

Also, said this before, but splitting it into three titles was an obvious cash grab.

NocturnalMorning ,

Yes, but did you play the extra fluff they added to the games to fluff them out? Surely that's worth paying for the game 3 times.

NocturnalMorning ,

I thought the fighting was really fun in ff16. I'm not familiar with DMC though. All a matter of taste I suppose. Second point is fair, I happen to own a ps5, so I was able to play it right away, didn't even realize it was an exclusive.

NocturnalMorning ,

I'm sure the second game is enjoyable. I've heard a lot of good things about it. It's still a money grab to split the game into three separate titles.

NocturnalMorning ,

That sucks, I have OG FF7 I bought a few years ago on my ps4. Would be unfortunate if they suddenly decided I needed an internet connection for it.

I've about had it with modern game company antics honestly.

NocturnalMorning ,

This is a really dumb take. The onus of birth control should not be only on the women.

What are some eras of gaming that you've stopped feeling nostalgic for? ( kbin.social )

As I've gotten older as a player, I have found myself dropping some eras of gaming that I used to be nostalgic for. One of them is the 8-bit era, the NES days. I have played some of the best that system had to offer and I will never say that system didn't have any good games....

NocturnalMorning , (edited )

I was a bit young when nes, and snes came out. I am still quiet fond of super mario world 2. But my favorite consoles, hands down are N64, PS1, and PS2. They were really just figuring out open world gaming back then, and they hadn't yet figured our how to make every game constantly online, and/or gaming as a service.

I will say though, a lot of the old games I used to love don't hold up as well playing them as an adult. They are either super hard, or have weird camera and controls, especially 007 GoldenEye for N64.

Another one that turned out to be tedious and hard is Zelda Ocarina of Time, which really surprised me. I thought the game was the greatest game ever as a kid.

Whatever happened to lemmy.film?

It had a few niche communities I would occasionally post to after the Reddit exodus but a couple months later I would post there and get no responses or votes. Going to lemmy.film now gives me an error message. Did they decide to shut it down or combine with another instance similar to FMHY? I am curious if they gave some kind...

NocturnalMorning , (edited )

Ask Lemmy is for questions.

Is this not a question? It's literally called, no stupid questions.

NocturnalMorning ,

I'm fine not having this conversation anymore. I just gave a perspective from an engineer. No need to continue shitting on me. I'm not even defending the practice.
