It does spit in the face of Asimov's work tho. It started off as an Agatha Christie inspired murder mystery called Hardwired.

The script went through the shredder several times, one round because the publisher happened to have the "I, Robot" rights on hand and wanted to slap it on. Hence "suggested by" instead of the usual "inspired" or "based on" and even that's a stretch.

Then when Will Smith was cast he went through the script like a wrecking ball putting an action movie spin on what was originally supposed to be a pretty brainy story, involving only a single human character figuring out a crime by talking to a bunch of artificial ones.

Basically, it could have been more, but threw it all out to become schlock, and dunked on an established respected name while it was at it.

Am I the only person with a cat that is super careful with their teeth and claws, such that they don't pierce skin? He'll lightly place his claws on skin or take a finger between his teeth and apply very light pressure when he doesn't want to be touched.

The "scream in pretend pain whenever you feel anything sharp" method has trained him to be very aware of his killing tools.

The only time I have claws viciously dug into me is when he kneads me in relaxation, and that's an instinctual behaviour I don't think he can resist.

I've never used my hands directly for play, so that probably makes a difference. He only gets to go full wild animal on wand toys and such. I don't mind some scratches either, but I made it a point to really make even the slightest catching on skin to be off-limits, so as to be able to let others handle him without worry. Especially with one of sisters starting off quite scared of him.

And yup, the kneading can go from 0 to 100 very suddenly.

Night lights that detect light levels are probably flickering so fast that it just appears to be on

Ok so I got this idea not while showering, but because I'm very high. The story does come from my bathroom though! I have a night light in my bathroom, and I was looking at the night light as I turned off the bathroom light. I'm a big nerd so I remembered that the things that detect light levels are actually diodes wired in...

Duty cycle does not refer to the frequency of the flicker.

The frequency on a PWM light doesn't change, it's the same for the full range of control. What that frequency is, is determined by the controller generating the PWM signal, not the light.

PWM can be done at different frequencies. Cheap PWM controllers can only manage lower frequencies, those are the kind you notice and have trouble with in pictures. Good ones will run at frequencies so high, the fact they aren't actually on continuously, will only matter in extremely high speed photography.

This is because a PWM controller can achieve the same reduction in brightness at any frequency. What matters is the fraction of time that the LED is lit each pulse. If you run the system at 1000Hz, half brightness means the flicker is 1000Hz, because you are sending 1000 pulses that are 0.5 milliseconds long. 75% brightness would mean the pulses are 0.75 milliseconds, but the number of pulses, and thus the frequency, is still 1000Hz. The flicker is the same.

Even at 99% brightness/duty cycle, a PWM light is still blinking at whatever frequency the controller is running at. Only at 100% does it not flicker, as 100% duty cycle means the controller simply keeps the light on continuously.

No matter what LED you use, they don't usually care what the frequency is, nor what duty cycle you are at.

I'm not sure what you mean by motors running best at a given duty cycle, either. Sure, there is an efficiency peak, but the whole point of PWM is to be able to run something at any duty cycle you desire (resulting in the desired brightness for lights, RPMs for motors).

My sister played the crap out of Journey, she'd hang around the first area until another player showed up, then guide them through the game, showing the stranger all the secrets she knew, tracing hearts into the sand and such.

The embroidery on the robes actually becomes more elaborate as you find more secrets in the game, so she realized she could tell new players from experienced ones, and would guide players or look to learn from them accordingly.

She got the white robe without ever looking up where to find the symbols for it, just finding other players who'd show her where to look.

My biggest problem with Fairy Tail.

Never got over Gajeel beating Levy within an inch of her life, then literally crucifying her for the rest of the guild to find.

And then that's who people start shipping her with?! AND THEN IT BECOMES FUCKING CANON!?
