I am not a fan of The Big Bang Theory by any means, but removing the laugh track on any show will make the jokes less funny due to the pacing for edits. They hold on shots longer to add in laughs... this makes for long uncomfortable silences when laughter is removed. And timing is very important in comedy.

If someone removes the laugh track, they should also remove the long silences to give it a better chance. I don't think it would help TBBT much for me, but comedy is subjective.

MonsterVerse? The sand worms are coming to Earth!

I'm actually looking forward to a MonsterVerse movie directed by him. Could be really interesting.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

Ah. Yes. I was wondering why he would choose a MonsterVerse film. It didn't seem right to me. Turns out, he isn't.

Amazon Mulls $5 to $10 monthly price tag for unprofitable Alexa service, AI revamp ( www.reuters.com )

Amazon (AMZN.O) is planning a major revamp of its decade-old money-losing Alexa service to include a conversational generative AI with two tiers of service and has considered a monthly fee of around $5 to access the superior version, according to people with direct knowledge of the company's plans.

Eh ... it's not spying. It can't even understand me when I'm talking to it.

The last time I played this game I felt like the controls were off. Like the camera moving left and right were going in the wrong direction compared to other games. I couldn't change them in options. Hope they make that change because it was very awkward to play.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

I never had an issue with other games at the time... just this one. Played many Mario and Zelda games and the camera was fine on those.

On a side note, what's weird is that I used to always invert my vertical camera for every game, but all of a sudden, my brain changed on some game I was playing and now I no longer need to do that for anything else.

It doesn't help that they also just have the one screen.

They could easily have had a secondary display behind the steering wheel that shows only the important info... but no... they followed Tesla's model to cut costs with one screen that does most everything.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

The least they could've done was include a heads-up projection display as an option.

I'll bet it'll be there in future models.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

True. But also true is that a majority of scammers are simply not smart and/or English is not their native language. A phishing email/text that might look good to them, can look really bad to others.

But still, people still fall for the obvious phishing attacks. AI is going to make the phishing appear more legit.

This is just for Home edition, yeah? Pretty sure Professional still allows you to create offline accounts without a Microsoft account before joining a domain.

In my experience, in IT, cables are usually the way to go over adapters. Adapters tend to break more often than cables.

Someone else may offer a more thorough differing opinion... like perhaps a very high quality HDMI cable with a high quality adapter may be better than a mediocre off-brand standalone cable, but if the prices/brand are the same... I'd stick with the single cable.

Before USB-C became standard, we stuck with HDMI cables and then had different adapters on hand just for convenience, but if we knew a cable is going to be used in the same equipment for a long time, we'll try for the single cable.

Man accused of using generative AI to create virus in Japan 1st ( mainichi.jp )

TOKYO -- A 25-year-old man has been served a fresh arrest warrant for allegedly creating a computer virus using generative artificial intelligence (AI), the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD)'s cybercrime control division announced on May 28, in what is believed to be the first such case in Japan....

MeekerThanBeaker ,

Computer virus. Okay. Phew.

Though a computer virus could someday be just as deadly as a regular virus.

Did they really say, "We tried to make this work. Gosh, we tried."?

Well, golly.

Since 2009, I thoroughly enjoyed Toy Story 3, Inside Out, Soul, and Elemental.

Something, something... don't ask for permission, ask for forgiveness. Yet, they asked for permission and were denied.

Not sure if they thought they'd get away with it or if they just wanted this publicity. I'm thinking it was their hubris.

Everything is a limited edition. Some things are just more limited than others.

And crypto is more stable than some governments' real currency. It's been a life saver for some people.

It's also a lot faster for transactions than normal banking when sending money to people in other countries.

It's still in the early days... like email in the late 80s / early 90s. It should get better, but there's so much crap and scams out there right now. It's still very much the wild west. It's like Wall Street on acid.

EDIT: people downvote but don't say what was wrong. Awesome.

There have always been good and bad movies over the decades. There are good movies out there by American companies, you just have to find them. The better quality movies tend to be released in the fall... closer to awards season.

Haven't seen the new Crow trailer, but Transformers doesn't do it for me. The only real Transformers that resembles the 80s cartoon for me was the first ten minutes or so of Bumblebee.

The Crow should've ended with the first movie. It didn't need to be a franchise. Especially after Brandon Lee died.

To expect a reboot/sequel/prequel to be good is asking too much. Those are few and far in-between. Be surprised when it happens... like with Dune.

On the one hand, I hope he loses.

On the other hand, I hope Meta also loses.

Something tells me we are the ones who lose.

Use JustWatch.com or their app.

It doesn't solve the multiple services issue, but it at least helps you find what you're looking for.

We really need to perfect space travel so we can all go our separate ways.

I tried to watch it this past weekend. I can watch basically anything. I stopped twenty minutes in and that was being generous. And I was/am a huge Seinfeld show fan. I don't understand what others see. It was awful. The target audience was not me.

Supes giving off that Mr. Incredible vibe...

"No matter how many times you save the world, it always manages to get back in jeopardy again. Sometimes I just want it to stay saved! You know, for a little bit? I feel like the maid; I just cleaned up this mess! Can we keep it clean for... for ten minutes!"

He said in that video writing comedy is like writing lyrics. And I agree. Comedy is kinda like music. And... comedy changes over time... like music changes. An artist needs to change along with the times. There was a reason why The Beatles changed their style over the years. Madonna as well. Comedians should too.

Even though Seinfeld the show is brilliant and still is funny in a classic music type of way, his comedy now just feels dated. There's a reason why Vaudeville is not really around anymore.

Once you're part of the biggest show on TV, it's hard to ground yourself. His woke stance just shows how out of touch he is. Similar to Roseanne. Rob McElhenney's response was perfect:

I don't know about the Cybertruck or its charging port, but cars do have rain sensors to activate the wipers automatically when it rains. Car wash mode likely turns those sensors off to prevent damage to the wipers.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

It just sounds like you are saying that the original Castlevania came out a quarter of a century ago, which would be 1999.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

I think the only movie that captured 1980s Transformers was the first ten minutes (give or take) of Bumblebee. Everything else felt like execs thinking they know what it's about.

MeekerThanBeaker ,

Um... Of course it would be. Why wouldn't it be? It's not going to be less powerful than the current systems. What a stupid headline.
