I wasn't aware just how good the news is on the green energy front until reading this. We still have a tough road in the short/medium term, but we are more or less irreversibly headed in the right direction.
I can point to all the ways AI has made my life worse. Google (and YouTube) has gotten worse, any forum where art is posted (that includes lemmy) has gotten worse, and I've had to establish a safeword with my mom because of AI scammers.
So, sincerely, pull your head out of your ass. Thank you.
Australia reported its first human case of avian influenza on Wednesday in a child who authorities said had been infected in India but made a full recovery, while a different highly contagious strain was found on an egg farm....
You'll get sick at your office desk then suffer miserably in your own bed or, god forbid, in a hospital bed. And you'll have all the karma coming to you for wishing that fate on potentially millions of other people, if you believe in that sort of thing.
I highly doubt that someone disabled enough to need implants like this is capable of doing damage to anyone but themselves. Like if you're interested in protecting them, sure I'll accept that. But the idea that society needs to protect itself from this is silly.
I'm not sure that's accurate, otherwise we wouldn't be where we are today. I'm sure there's plenty of hate brewed up in them, and hate is a lot like swallowing poison and expecting another person to die.
I'm not trying to justify anything, I'm merely pointing out that hate doesn't just spring from nowhere. You have to suffer to hate, even if that suffering is marginal compared to others.
Whether you, like me, beleive that QAZWSX keyboards make far more sense, especially in a machine learning world, I think we all agree a layout designed to circumvent jamming typewriter keys doesn't make sense in modern society on modern devices.
When Bloomberg reported that Spotify would be upping the cost of its premium subscription from $9.99 to $10.99, and including 15 hours of audiobooks per month in the U.S., the change sounded like a win for songwriters and publishers. Higher subscription prices typically equate to a bump in U.S. mechanical royalties — but not...
I'm taking a guess and claim that you don't really understand sexism. It hurts men, too, yes. But not in the way you think it does (but rather by toxic masculinity)
This is what you've said. I'm not assuming anything about what you've said.
I was in 5th grade when my misandrist teacher very pointedly exclaimed how much she hated little boys. In a class of 30 kids, the only people who got A's were the three girls.
You can just fuck off. Misandry absolutely exists, it effects men and boys - not just in a 'toxic masculinity' way.

I directly countered that. Suddenly the goalposts have shifted and what you said isn't actually what you said.
If your goal was to argue semantics then I don't know why I'm entertaining this. Yes, in an imaginary society that is 1) somehow not influenced by modern society and 2) somehow also avoids currency - power dynamics will obviously take different shapes.
