The fucking DOORS require a charged battery? Fuck that. That decision will age great in the next ten years. Not to mention emergency situations where the electrical system is compromised.

Guy_Fieris_Hair ,

I can understand why. I'm guessing it's for a couple reasons, maybe fluctuations in the voltage depending on driving conditions ( if you're stomping on the throttle allowing everything to flow through the motors it may provide inconsistent voltage to the sensitive computers and electronics, I would imagine there is a step-down converter somewhere that charges that 12v battery, essentially that battery is used as a buffer. But the link between the big batt. and little batt. isn't active unless the vehicle is on. And "On" requires the 12v system to turn on computers and close a relay.

Doors relying on ANY electronics is a bad idea. Even most cars with keyless entry have a hidden key somewhere to physically get in the vehicle if the battery dies. If the main battery in a tesla is toast you have bigger problems than a locked door. But anyone who has been driving for more than a few years has likely dealt with an OG battery decides to stop taking a charge. And you probably won't get much of a warning in an EV that doesn't have an engine that starts turning over slower and slower.

They have laminated glass on the doors. Yes, it can break, but it takes saws to actually open. Having to get through a window to open a door because a battery died is very much a safety issue. Especially with how prone they are to having their batteries catch on fire. Relying in the electrical system or a super secret back up plan on the interior of the car in an emergency is stupid.

Guy_Fieris_Hair ,

I agree, the main handle you use on the interior and exterior of the vehicle should be PHYSICALLY connected to the latch. Seems like a pretty simple rule to make and enforce and seems pretty common sense.

I have a 61 f100 with shaved doors that only opens electronically from the outside with a fob, but I didn't build it to be a grocery getter with my wife and kids in it. I know the risks. And the hood opens without having to get into the cab so I can easily access the battery if it's dead.

2011/12~ ish my wife said "we should build a computer to mine crypto" my answer was "that is dumb, how can some digital ones and zeros be worth any actual cash, it seems like a waste of money to spend thousands on a computer with multiple gpus for something that will never pay for itself."

A couple weeks later I regretted my answer because I could have had a SICK gaming computer. A decade later I regretted it for other reasons and decided to start letting my wife make all the financial decisions.

Minus a few things (grapes, garlic, onions, chocolate, etc) dogs share a very close diet to us, that's why we've evolved together for so long. If your dog is suffering and early death because of a few scraps you give them, you likely are too. Also, it's just a cute towel. Don't take it that seriously.

Guy_Fieris_Hair ,

Fine when the government steps in to bail them out.

Yes, varying people have different opinions on subjects. It is easy to think a comment with upvotes is the way the hivemind goes, but the hivemind has multiple factions.

I, personally, have no opinion on the matter. The dude was septic and had a stroke. While it seems unlikely that was murder, I guess it is possible if you have infinite resources to make it look natural. But that is one HELL of a coincidence to have two whistle-blowers die . .. like. .. pretty fucking insane. Watch these next ten all die and no one important bats an eye.

Guy_Fieris_Hair ,

You are not a dog person.

Guy_Fieris_Hair ,

If I was sleeping in a strangers home my door would be shut regardless of the dog. And either locked or with luggage/ furniture in front of it. Just in case Kevin wasn't a dog. ..

Guy_Fieris_Hair ,

Don't most of those giant companies like Amazon and Walmart work 7 days a week, regardless of what is designated a workday?

Guy_Fieris_Hair ,

Yeah, this would be a novelty and it was SOLID for it's time. But we have come a long way, pretty sure my light switches have more processing power than these phones did. This isn't like your favorite band rebooting, it is a peice of technology that is no longer relevant or even capable of operating on modern networks. The entire hardware will be completely different or it will be a paperweight immediately.

Old milk crates were awesome for that. Hold the TV then have a place for your console underneath if you put it on it's side.

Windows 11 Start menu ads are now rolling out to everyone ( www.theverge.com )

Microsoft is starting to enable ads inside the Start menu on Windows 11 for all users. After testing these briefly with Windows Insiders earlier this month, Microsoft has started to distribute update KB5036980 to Windows 11 users this week, which includes “recommendations” for apps from the Microsoft Store in the Start menu....

Guy_Fieris_Hair ,

Just in case you didn't have enough apps installed from the factory.

How... do you go about getting diagnoses as an adult? I am 38 years old and relatively well adjusted, I think?. Career, home, family, degrees. But I always just thought I was just, idk, wierd, but I have learned to occasionally point my hyperfixation in a constructive direction. It is always fixated somewhere, getting through school, my job, but whatever I am fixated on, it is the only thing that matters in the whole world. I graduated at the top of my class with a 4.0 and all the awards and accolades possible. I am a high level supervisor at my work, etc. Like, I am doing OK, but other times I will get distracted, and for a month my fixation will be a video game, or my fish tank and my work will suffer. Once I lose interest I would rather put my head through a fucking wall than deal with the details of something I no longer care about. Even if other people depend on me to finish something it is pulling teeth for me to finish it. All it gets is a superficial level of attention. None of the passion. My life is a series of rabbit holes and half finished projects. For me I am fine, but the people around me that get neglected when I am on to something else.... if I am focused on my job, it consumes me, every waking second I am either at work, talking about work, working on stuff for work, getting another certification for work, and I am terrified if I try to refocus to try to maintain some sort of work life balance I will lose any reasonable interest in work and everything I have done will be for nothing.

Writing it out I feel far less "adjusted" than I thought... my wife has pointed it out for years how it actually affects me, (and her, and the kids) more than I realize. Sometimes I get in the threads in this sub and I have a "Oh, shit..." moment where I realize so many of my own patters relate to the comments in here and wonder what life would be like if I actually took care of it. I was diagnosed when I was like 7 but it was never followed through with or treated. IDK. 🤷‍♂️

Guy_Fieris_Hair ,

Idk, in my particular situation I would like a smart washing machine. I have a smart fridge, that is essentially useless, but a smart washing machine would tell me when my laundry was done so I can switch it into the dryer. That actually seems useful in my particular situation.

Guy_Fieris_Hair ,

Not sure it will ever get better. Maybe a single person being allowed to decide a case that requires a technical understanding should be consulted by experts in it. I guess a better lawyer probably should have made that happen (shouldn't have to). But, as the old geezers die off and the younger "tech savvy" people take over, they will no longer be young or tech savvy, technologywill keep progressing and pass us up too. And you don't want an actual young person as a judge. So... the system is just broken.

Guy_Fieris_Hair ,

Sucks because Trump is going to stay behind Isreal too. The people that refuse to vote for Biden because of this likely just won't vote. Which = Trump.

We blue right now. It's awesome and I am soaking up the few wins while I can.

Guy_Fieris_Hair ,

It is absolutely absurd. There have been a lot of games that aren't polished come out in the last half a decade that got a LOT of flack, but this one cannot be played without a connection to the servers and no one can connect to the servers. I have 15 hours logged and probably 4 of that has actually been playing. The game is by every definition LITERALLY Unplayable.
