Well, yes it can go bad. I think they forgot the self-replication mechanisms.

What? Humans as a species suck. all hail the AI overlords.

for any one else wondering... I give you their "Ghost Suit":

I mean, I realize it's to avoid teaching the chicks that humans are cool and food-givers and stuff.

but I'm not really sure I expected that. I don't know what I expected. This is like if the Grim Reaper went shopping at a military surplus store and got some tactikool blankets and stuff. (which just makes it slightly more amusing than bedsheets.)

cat shows.

He just watched it for the drama. Honest!

FuglyDuck ,

I dunno. The other cat probably had it coming

Me three.

This cat clearly needs more scritches as a reward

At first I thought those two in the foreground were making out…

Biden Puts Arms Shipment to Israel on Hold Amid Dispute Over Rafah Attack ( www.nytimes.com )

President Biden paused an arms shipment to Israel last week to prevent the U.S.-made weapons from being used in a long-threatened assault on the city Rafah, administration officials said on Tuesday night, a sign of the growing rift between Washington and Jerusalem over the conduct of the war....

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

well past fucking time. And I'm not sure he's not going to un-pause the shipments the moment he gets the good headlines.

I feel like there needs to be a Muffinzilla here, to do battle with the fruit-monsters.

I wonder if there are any godzilla shaped muffin molds....

I can just hear everyone’s mom yelling “don’t play with your food!”

I'd expect nothing less from Zuck the Cuck.

Please tell me Scooter got whatever he was begging for?

Or at least some scritches,

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

He could. But he won’t.

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

Please don’t. Or at least use a condom.

We don’t need mini-GOP running around.

Poor cactus.

It could be layer adhesion being hampered by bed temp. What are you printing in? Does it have a lot of warping at the corners?

How do people actually dumpster dive to get free food? Are there any other cheap/free ways like this to get food?

My local food bank can only provide 8 packages with referrals every time before you run out, and I have, but my situation hasn't improved financially due to various set backs and I'm struggling to feed myself. I've heard that supermarkets throw out massive amounts, but have never been in a position where dumpster diving seemed...

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

The fuck kind of world do we live in where we need to guard dumpsters?

In most urban places, an unlocked dumpster is asking for all sorts of things that normally cost extra to get dumped. Downtown Minneapolis, an open construction dumpster can go about a day without a mattress showing up (biohazard. Massive. Biohazard.) or shitloads of furniture.

In any case illegal dumping drives up the costs for people who do own the dumpster so most times, they’re locked at the very least.

But yeah, why the don’t donate food they’re not gonna sell , I dunno. That becomes a nice write off and a “we donate xyz fellgoods!”

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

then there is that, to be sure. lawyers have ruined a lot of things.

in any case, I suspect there's also logistics involved- getting the donated food to the shelter.

Not to mention it’s very unlikely that you have secrets on the phone as valuable as your thumb.

[Serious] Why do so many people seem to hate veganism?

Seen a lot of posts on Lemmy with vegan-adjacent sentiments but the comments are typically very critical of vegan ideas, even when they don't come from vegans themselves. Why is this topic in particular so polarising on the internet? Especially since unlike politics for example, it seems like people don't really get upset by it...

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

Usually it’s not veganism, itself. Rather, it’s the vegans.

Specifically the annoyingly loud, self-righteous, insists-everyone-must-join-them vegans.

Unfortunately, most people only really see this sort of vegan- rather than the more common, average sort of person who happens to also be vegan.

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

Precisely.

Personal anecdotes, there was a particular vegan at work. The smell of cooked meat made her feel sick.

Instead of doing the rational thing and taking lunch at her desk; she proceeded to insist that the break room be meat-free. It escalated into all manner of preaching, “shame on you,”- including signage, nasty emails. Shaming with “don’t you care about me?!” All sorts of victimization.

The reality was any attempt at accommodating her was met with “not enough”. The entire office in the end, according to her, needed to be a complete vegan zone.

She didn’t last long for other reasons, but none of those shenanigans really helped. (let’s just say the attitude didn’t stop at being a vegan.)

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

Pointing out the consequences; the climate damage, all that is one thing. Respectful conversation.

Actively tossing out people’s lunches isn’t going to convince anyone of anything, though. Suddenly that person is now the face of vegans for everyone in the office.

Protests, sure. But when it comes to interpersonal relationships…. Yeah. Doesn’t help.

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

Yes. It was a salad made with left over carnitas, dried cranberry and a homemade vinaigrette. (Yes, I’m a little vindictive about it.)

She also tossed the front desk guys rice and beans because he included some impossible bacon.

(That was like the day before she got fired for other reasons.)

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

Ding ding ding, got it in one, yes.

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

Never, ever, say “you can’t get any dumber than that”… these morons take it as a challenge.

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

okay. so I take that as permission to send them your way to be dealt with?

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

This is yet another reason why we’re fucked.

So my grandpa was a cop down in Missouri- long time bailif, but also a rail cop for Fresco Lines.

One of the guys he remembers coming through as a bailiff… would go to a trout farm (Bennett springs?) and walk around with some monofilament ran down his pants, catch a trout in each leg and walk on out.

It took him a while to get caught.

I’m not sure id want anything that gets nibbly in my pants.

The “I don’t always sit in boxes, but when I do… i do. Don’t ask” pose.

I have amblyopia. Is this accurate? ( lemmy.sdf.org )

I have amblyopia—also known as lazy eye—which means I often see a bit of double vision—usually a sliver duplicated on the outside side of one of my eyes, even when I’m wearing contacts, and even though I don’t look like I have a lazy eye. My eyes definitely don’t work in concert and I’m told my 3D vision resembles...

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

So… I don’t know about with amblyopia….

But binoculars have an adjustment that brings the view through the two scopes together. If you see two circles (or two overlapping circles), you should adjust it.

Anything is an act of war, if the “victim” country chooses to take it as such.

[Serious] Do you know of any processed snack foods with some vitamins?

Trying to keep my very picky eater 3yo healthy as we're (hopefully) expanding his diet. Right now the only foods I can get him to actually eat are McDonald's, a specific brand of yogurt, banana bread, some crackers and some bars. Refuses any beverage besides water. (He's likely on the spectrum.)

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

Flinstone vitamins, maybe? Or any other kids gummy vitamins.

I would highly recommend talking with a child therapist before this becomes an ingrained habit, if you haven’t already.

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

that's a good point, too.

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

do.... I want to know what "rough" means?

hope they're just nasty-tasting.

that side eye!

Let Charlie know he has a fan by giving him schritches for me?

I can't sit on the couch anymore without one (or both) of these goobers requesting a blanket fort. If they're desperate enough for a fix they'll even share ( programming.dev )

I would recommend everyone try this. Just sit down, bend your knees, throw a blanket over, and show them the entrance. Just be warned they will not leave unless you make them

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

we know you secretly love it.

Give 'em some scritches for me!

Houthis offer education to students suspended in US protest crackdown ( www.reuters.com )
