Live USB boot IMO, you remove the virtualization performance overhead.

Dudewitbow ,

you can theoretically attach it to anything that has an outward API useable by developers. for an ultra basic example, it likely wouldnt be hard to tie it to a controller rumble API

Dudewitbow ,

i mean if you want chaos, program in whitespace

wait till you visit(or revisit) South Koreas attempt to normalize 69 hour work weeks

faster ram generally has dimishing returns on sustem use, however it does matter for gpu compute reasons on igpu (e. g gaming, and ML/AI would make use of the increased memory bandwith).

its not easily to simply just push a wider bus because memory bus size more or less affects design complexity, thus cost. its cheaper to push memory clocks than design a die with a wider bus.

Amazon Mulls $5 to $10 monthly price tag for unprofitable Alexa service, AI revamp ( www.reuters.com )

Amazon (AMZN.O) is planning a major revamp of its decade-old money-losing Alexa service to include a conversational generative AI with two tiers of service and has considered a monthly fee of around $5 to access the superior version, according to people with direct knowledge of the company's plans.

Dudewitbow ,

it really depends on how much you trust amazon on what it records as alexa is an always on(in terms of microphone) device.

Dudewitbow ,

its generally just consumers on the consumer OS who have that image of Microsoft.

take for example their Xbox Division. Microsoft is the o nlu company where its possible to throw in an OG xbox game in their modern console and play it (after a compatibility patch). Both nintendo and sony couldnt even fathom that kind of backwards compatibility. Microsoft is also the one who keeps up their digital store (on console) the longest

on the former point, i never claimed it was all disks, I only claimed that it was even remotely possible to stick a disk in and possibly play an og xbox game. Something you couldnt remotely do on the latest playstation (wouldnt boot any ps1 game) nor nintendo for obvious reasons(no disk drive, no compatibility with older cart systems)

hard to not understand given the highway is the most dangerous place for a tow truck to be at (youd be suprised how common it is for a negligent driver kills a tow truck driver numbers speaking on a highway). they want to get out of there ASAP

Dudewitbow ,

the centralized login method is easier for people outside of your network to use your content. thats kinda the main draw if you are willing to sacrifice that level of privacy

UN Security Council backs plan for Israel-Hamas ceasefire ( www.reuters.com )

UNITED NATIONS, June 10 (Reuters) - The United Nations Security Council on Monday backed a proposal outlined by President Joe Biden for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip and urged the Palestinian militants to accept the deal aimed at ending the eight-month-long war....

Dudewitbow ,

Israel probably is only accepting it due to pressure from the U.S government. It itself is trying to distance itself away from being active in the agreement though.

i think its more that all facial recognition systems have a harder time picking up faces with darker complexion (same idea why phone cameras are bad at it for example). this failure leads to a bunch of false flags. its hilariously evident when you see police jurisdictions using it and aresting innocent people.

not saying the womans of colored background, but would explain why it might be triggering.

Dudewitbow ,

the idea of crypto on its not bad on its own, its just there are a lot of bad actors agressively trying to prop up the value of some arbitrary crypto without actually selling a good or service in order to make a quick buck.

at least teams like the one behind Axie Infinity offered a product/service. Most don't, which is the problem.

if your marketing essentially has to relate to other people buying into buying it, then theres a big problem.

Dudewitbow ,

one of the few things that marks a super power is having (reletively) good logistics. almost all major corporations that sell products have to master logistics.

Dudewitbow ,

a good chunk of the switch top sellers are WiiU games. new isnt always on the table.

Dudewitbow ,

unique hardware that doesnt follow the conventions of standard hardware, so you have to write code to get around that fact. Take for example one of the reason why Wii/GC development went fast eas because the PowerPC processor is fairly well documented, similar to the Tegra X1 with the switch. Its always obscure hardware that makes hardware emulation harder (e.g PS3, Sega Saturn)

Dudewitbow ,

yes, but the key difference is how its. typically used. reddit/lemmy is generally following specific topics while other forms of social media tend to follow specific people or organizations

so yes, both imo are forms of social media, but brcause of how you interact more with it is different, it feels like it's not the same.

Dudewitbow ,

using a computer traditionally was seen as a secretary job, so it was often dominated by women. its only as of post consumer computer events where a lot more males went into the field due to the large market it offers came in.

Dudewitbow ,

as the other person mentions, the purpose of camm standard is speed. sodimm has realistically hit its frequency limit, which is why the lpddr versions of devices tend to have higher clocks. the faatest components in terms of bandwith is always the closest to the cpu sock (which is why for instance, the fastest pci-e lane on a motherboard is usually the top most x16 slot, as well as usually fastest m.2 slot).

camm is the fix required for next generation high speed memory because of the phenomena, else igpu performance is going to be held back, which doesnt bode well when igpus are getting bigger to able to take a load off AI workloads.

Dudewitbow ,

iirc Garuda Linux defaults to it, and is gaming focused distro of arch. Whether its worth it is up to you, but there are already users who daily drive it that way.

Dudewitbow ,

the main selling point of mpchc is madvr. there's basically no other competitors that utilize the GPU to make the media your watching better on the same level as madvr.

Dudewitbow ,

the cancellation of the model 2 for the cybertruck may have been the worst possible decision tesla went through maybe.

Dudewitbow ,

hes the target from certain media and channels because he has the largest reach.

Dudewitbow ,

IMO the capacititive buttons with no feedback are even worse than the touch screen. at least with the touch screen, you will likely have a colored UI element on screen to press. with the cars that replace all the buttons with capacitive buttons with no feedback, theyre all the same color.

I feel like the Steam Deck is the best proof of Gabe Newell's quote that "piracy is a service issue."

They could have easily crammed the Steam Deck full of stuff to make it hard to use for piracy - locking down everything, making it usable only to play games you legitimately own, force you to go through who knows what hoops in order to play games on it. That's what Nintendo or Apple or most other companies do....
