Important question : What geographical area are you in? Location matters for identifying the species and what you should do with it.

Now for some actual info.

Do not pickup wild birds, even fledglings or babies. Bird flu is running rampant right now, birds can have very nasty parasites on and in them. If you find a "naked" baby bird, it was probably ejected from the nest, this is natural. It is either sibling competition, or the parents downsizing because they can't care for it. If it is feathered, then it is probably a fledgling that has left the nest normally and is learning to fly. You are not helping it by bringing inside. If the bird is in a dangerous place, like a road, use a stick, or cloth to move it to a safer location.

Based on my area (Midwest US), this looks like a European starling. They are invasive in the US. A wildlife center is not going to take it (except maybe as hawk food).

Yeah. Also, clearly doesn't understand what is going on (TBF, I don't know shit about Canadian politics either), but the stupid violent people with guns will be overjoyed if trump is the president.

If you don't use Bing with Edge, Microsoft will tell you your computer needs repairing.

https://www.tomsguide.com/computing/windows-operating-systems/microsoft-now-says-your-pc-is-in-need-of-repair-if-youre-not-using-bing-with-edge

They are not wrong.

To mend your machine:

  1. Ditch Windows
  2. Install Plasma
  3. Your computer is ready.

@kde

A laptop running the laters version of Plasma, Plasma 6.

Gotta love it when edge users try to tell me "It's not that bad" and "It's based on chrome now".

Those aren't exactly selling points....

Flag code in the US is just recommendations for citizens. I think it is only "enforced" for military personnel.

Olives are great, but I also like pickled baby corn, hearts of palm, pickled Okra... I think there is a certain heritage/genetic component to enjoying pickled foods. I have mostly Swedish and German ancestry, just about anything pickled, cured, salted or brined is the shit.

If you haven't tried them yet, oil cured olives are awesome. Kinda bitter, soft and chewy, with a real deep olive flavor. Don't eat to many at once or your shit will slip right past your anus. You've been warned.

Butter, salt, sliced mushrooms. Sautee in a pan until they get down to about 1/2 their original size. Garnish with a steak. Heaven on a plate.

Bytemeister ,

Use a little butter to keep them from sticking, once they start browning, add butter to the desired butteryness

Obscure screw added so appliance cannot be disassembled ( lemmy.world )

Basic blender went bad (motor ran but spindle wasn't rotating). I wanted to disassemble to see if it could be repaired. Three of the four screws were Phillips head. I had to cut the casing open in order to discover why I couldn't unscrew the fourth. It was a slotted spanner.

Bytemeister ,

Excuse me, I thought this was America!

Bytemeister ,

I think the concern is that you would re-assemble it with the safety bypassed, not that you would harm yourself while disassembling the appliance.

Bytemeister ,

Have you tried closing and re-opening your spell book?

What's the uptime on your portal?

Apple-wood makes really good wands for illusions.

Oh, the staff? Built it myself. Hexacore silicon based crystal lattice CPU (Casting Power Unit), 4 billion RAM (Refined Arcane Modules) with an upgraded SSD (Swift Spell Deck) that can hold 2 trillion sigils. Yeah, of course it has RGB aura effects.

Hey i just wanna know are raccoons evil in some kind of way ?

A lot of things i thought were cute and nice like dolphines, ducks, cats (i saw one cat eat anothers new born), dogs (multiple cases of eating dead owners due to a variety of reasons starting from trying to wake em up to other malicious reasons), hamsters etc turned out to be wrong . Raccoons are the only thing i believe in...

Bytemeister ,

Honestly, Skunks, and maybe Possums. They are omnivores, so there is a certain amount of "will kill and eat other living things" but generally they have chill vibes and prefer to eat roots and garbage.

Raccoons aren't necessarily evil, but they are definitely chaotic little shit bastards.

Bytemeister , (edited )

To be fair, Windows is gonna hoover up 4GB of RAM before chrome even has a chance.

I don't think protest works without risk to the protestors. They have to be willing to take those risks to stand up for a cause, otherwise it's not a protest, it's just a group complaint.

If someone said "you can protest over there, at these certain times" you'd fuckin bet that I'd protest anywhere and any time except for what was specified.

Kennedy said, "Those who make peaceful protest impossible, make violent protest inevitable", the modern version should be "those who don't listen to peaceful protest, are signaling that they will only respond to violent protest".

So if protestors are disrupting classes, delaying traffic, and forcing the general public to acknowledge the issue at hand, then good, that's what a protest should do. If they are causing immediate danger to themselves or others, then they should expect to be removed, hopefully voluntarily.

It's a fair assumption that adding extra systems to the car makes it overall less reliable, but it's not necessarily true. Electric motors, compared to IC engines, are extremely simple and reliable. The servicing guidelines for the electric drivetrain in my hybrid is essentially "replace the battery if it stops holding enough charge", there is no schedule for any routine maintenance of those components. Adding the hybrid system also reduces the wear and tear on the conventional drivetrain and brakes. Hybrids can do regenerative braking, which means that (for my vehicle at least) most of the braking down to maybe 10mph is done by regen, which functionally has no wear and tear. The electric motors also assist the ICE at the times where peak wear and stress occur, reducing the load and stress on the motor, and extending it's lifespan. By adding the hybrid system, the overall reliability and lifespan of the vehicle is increased rather than decreased.
