10 months old, but interesting to see a CEO perspective

I was thinking about a device (phone or tablet), but it could be both

Could we maybe try to recreate this here a bit with such regular pinned threads?

Blaze OP ,
@Blaze@lemmy.zip avatar

That's the whole idea of the thread.

User 1 comes and say "I want the best camera phone, I don't care about ROM, I would actually prefer stock"

User 2 comes and say "I want the most future-proof phone, ideally with GrapheneOS, but I can do with Calyx or other custom ROMS"

The thread wouldn't be a "one size fits all", it would be a collection of requests and suggestions

Hello @ladfrombrad, any update on this? :)

Looking to switch app

I'm currently using Eternity but the developer stopped supporting it. Do you have any suggestions for another Android app I could switch to, preferably FOSS? I don't like Voyager for its UX and particularly the swiping functions. I prefer using swipes for navigation only and doing everything else by tapping buttons. In Voyager,...

They do, even with a headphone jack, but they are very pricey

We probably still use a computer regularly, reducing the need for a large phone screen to watch content

To answer your question with another question: Heliboard isn’t the same code base as GBoard, isn’t it?

Well, indeed. I was just hoping that someone expert on the intricate inner mechanisms of GBoard could have explained why the comparison is so striking

Not an Android, but calibre is a good solution if you have a computer at hand

I see where you come from, but mobile phones are much better devices than computers for most of the people:

  • always on you
  • easier to use
  • more "real life" applications (camera, mobile music player etc)

On Lemmy most of the people are desktop enthusiasts running Linux, but it makes sense that other people moved on

I use Linux as my main OS.

I still see that people around me use their phones for almost everything.

The tasks mentioned above make sense on a work computer, but most people leave the work computer at work and use their phones on their free time.

I keep hearing about /e/OS, I might give it a try! How is it for the banking apps, does it work as standard Android, or is there any issue?

Still seems strange, why not just open a new line with the Nothing name? Samsung lines goes from A15 to S22 Ultra within the same brand

Thank you for this.

The price is indeed the biggest issue. An Xperia 5 V is still 580€ second hand where I live, it's crazy.
